Thanks, seems a lot of vendors are adding isolated banking browsers/anti-keylogging functions to protect againts financial malware, a few years late though. Still, if this version has less bugs and uses less resources, they could become more succesfull in the consumer market.

i hope they fix the speed, because everybody is complain that bitdefender slow the PC,
and i also hope they fix a better engine detection,
because if they don't fix those 2 problem's then i don't think many people will test it or buy it.

I'm kind of liking it, even though it's my first day using it. Only slowdown is with boot.
Previous experience was pretty bad with BDIS2012, hope things won't get problematic.
Still best GUI. :thumb: Might even win something ;o

I have i on my PC for 3 days now and I also like it a lot. It's lighter than 2012 version and most important - almost no lag in browsing, my pings are the same as without antivirus. Plus excellent detection, webfilter (including blocking infected pages with cloud protection, not just definitions).

Considering its installation package weighs 231mb, does it download a big update after installation?

Glad they kept the GUI; it's the best I've ever seen.

Also if they have fixed the slowdowns, I can't see any paid AV being able to compete with it.

i do sort of like the gui not my fav but far from the worst i have used. this 2013 version so far is FAR better than the 2012 was. noticeably less slow down. browsing is still a bit slower for me than a few others are, startup is for sure faster than with 2012 was.. still uses multiple procc's which im not a fan of but the ram usage isnt to bad, a bit less than 2012 overall on this machine.

one thing that will drive me nuts is the extra icons like with avg if its not being used i would like to remove the icons from the gui.. which so far i dont see a way to do. and its "custom" install option isnt really a full custom install like say avast is which imo has the best custom install i know of you can pick and choose anything you want or dont want installed, this gave me just a few options but not for everything.

the safe browser is a bit odd and im going to test it more later i personally like the way the avast safe browser works/looks better but will see if this really is secure when i test it. i am not using auto pilot since i like control but i will test it on auto pilot and see what it does.

i like that it deletes tracking cookies for me which eset nor avast does. love the simplified app control in the firewall very easy and nice to work with for those who want simple app control instead of total auto or a barrage of pop ups.

I do feel that the 2013 beta is improved over the 2012 version. I still do not know why bitdefender needs to use over 1gb of disc space. I guess its because its a beta but i cannot find the options for parental control even thou there is a service for parental control. Rescue mode works on my laptop with 2013 beta but not 2012. Hopefully bitdefender will sort that issue.

It still will not install if you have Malwarebytes on your machine :thumbd:

i posted a workaround on this on another forum, here it is:

1.right click on your bitdefender installer > 7-zip > open archive (you need 7zip)
2.open folder "extern", heres the list of incompatible software az XML file
3.drag the file related to the incompatible software (lets say malwarebytes) to the desktop
    4.right click and click edit
5.you'll see the list of registry keys that bitdefender will check to see if the software exists on the machine or not
6.MAKE SURE NO FILE RELATED TO INCOMPATIBLE SOFTWARE IS RUNNING IN MEMORY (task manager > end process's)
7.find the key in registry (folder) and rename it
8.start bitdefender installer, as soon as it asks if you want to check for updates during installation it means it has passed the compatibility check and therefore its safe to rename the folder back to its original
9.continue the installation and run back your software

voila, you just started installing bitdefender without uninstalling malwarebytes

Wow how does that impact peformance?
I mean how can an anti-viral engine scour 1 gig of data for patern match against new files? I mean there must be a massive penalty somewhere. One does not just enter Mordor...I mean does a nanosecond sql query.

I don't know about the other modules but BIS does have a robust HIPS, if you disable all the "auto" things, it can get extremely annoying. :D
