Does anyone know the correct version number for the current Bitdefender Internet Security 2014? Is it the current download from the BD website demo version?

That's the build number I'm seeing as well, but the copyright notification says "2013" and there is no retail 2014 product. This appears to be the latest version, but they seem to have gotten ahead of themselves by calling it "2014".

Hadn't thought of that. You're probably right that you can't copyright into the future :)

It's confusing if you are looking for Bitdefender 2014. On the support forum it is named, "The New Bitdefender" and at the website it is named, "New Edition".

-http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=46294- is where the updates are listed for the New Bitdefender or New Edititon (which one?). At times this topic is not updated immediately. Support seems to take a break for weeks at a time.

I wonder if you run the internal updater on a 2013 build does it install the latest build which they are calling "2014"?

It looks like you will need to manually upgrade to the "New Bitdefender", "New Edition", "2014" or whatever they are calling it.

    Here are the offline installers

Thanks for all the info folks. I just downloaded it this week and got v17.15.0.682.

I'm a recovering lawyer but was also thrown off by the 2013@ date. That means that the work was copyrighted IN 2013 but a copyright granted in 2013 is good for decades.

The thing that really got me confused is that somewhere, perhaps in a mag test, I saw a screenshot of the Dashboard that had Bitdefebder 2014 across the left top of the dash. Mine is the demo version and just says there Bitdefender Internet Security. Maybe the pic I saw was of the AV.

From a June 2013 online issue of PC Mag Review:

I think Norton has also moved away from dating new versions.

    Thanks Muf

and BTW: I must have been wrong about a screenie showing the year 2014 on the dashboard..I just went through all the screenies on the BitDefebder site and none of them show a version year -- just the name of the product

NB: curious about the copyright notice for total security indicating it was copyrighted each year 01,02,03, indicating that there were signifcant changes in each year while the IS copyright notice is only for 2013 possibly indicating Bitdefender considers the IS product to be a totally new version.

Does anyone know what protection Bitdefender IS 2014 offers against keyloggers? I know there is protection in the Safepay browser, but what about generally in other browsers on the regular desktop? I ask because I'm considering installing Zemana Antilogger alongside BD 2014.

There are two types of on access scans (in addition to low, med, high settings).
There is a button also for a custom on access scan. Under the misc. tab for custom scan there is a selection for keyloggers but this is alrady checked by default which would lead one to conclude that BD IS by default scans on access for keyloggers at the default medium setting for non custom scans.

    Yes and No.
Bitdefender can protect you against keyloggers.

1-it can protect via signature based protection. Off course it will protect if it is known keylogger.
2-Bd's "Active virus defense" can protect if keylogger make more suspecious behaviour. It can protect against many trojan samples for example(they are using some keylogging techs)

But if you want Zemana&Spyshelter like protection, BB hasnt got. You can use Zemana, Spyshelter, Keyscramber

If you are using win8x64, select different one than zemana

Update; I answer for BD Antivirus. I remember checkbox on IS @hawki talk about it. You can try it against Spyshelter keylogger test, probably it will failed. Because it is not anti-keylogger, it is not good as special anti-logger software against pure keylogger

What is BD's Active Virus Defense. Is that the behavioral part of the system and on-access is the signature part??

I ask because on BD IS there is a specific Keylogger setting in custom for on-access scanning but there is no custom section for Active Virus Defense.

NVM : Found this in the on line manual:

" Bitdefender Active Virus Control is an innovative proactive detection technology which uses advanced heuristic methods to detect new potential threats in real time.

Active Virus Control continuously monitors the applications running on the computer, looking for malware-like actions. Each of these actions is scored and an overall score is computed for each process. When the overall score for a process reaches a given threshold, the process is considered to be harmful and it is blocked automatically.

If Autopilot is off, you will be notified through a pop-up window about the blocked application. Otherwise, the application will be blocked without any notification. You can check what applications have been detected by Active Virus Control in the Events window. "

    @hawkier

    You have the answer.
AVC is powerfull part of Bitdefender. It is very quiet and far from FP.

I tested the Zemana keylogger sim against BD 2014 on defaults last night and BD appeared to let the Zemana logger sim capture my keystrokes. But then BD may not identify this sim as malicious, and i may not have had the settings needed to stop keylogging.
