bitdefender free manual update?

is there a way to manually update bitdefender free virus definitions? im asking cos im mainly a linux user but ive got win 7 64 bit for gaming, so when i boot into windows to game i usually go online briefly to update steam, check windows update etc, it would be nice to be able to update bitdefender before i go offline again, instead of bitdefender updating itself whenever it decides to do that, at which time im probably offline again

I don't believe that they have that option now with their current free version simply because of the fact that it's cloud based. So when you are intermittently shutting down your internet connection, you may very well be without virus protection although someone can certainly correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Yes it is mainly cloud-based, there are better AV's for situations like that I think.

im on avira free now, getting rid of the cloud component solved all the crash issues i had with using avira offline...pretty happisfied right now.

not been using windows for about 10 years (skyrim changed that, im into gaming now) so im a bit behind, learning though

avira with cloud and firewall component disabled + online armor works for me right now, but i really liked bitdefender free.
