    In theory, yes.

However, BitDefender made it clear that users would have to use the build provided, with the code, first. I'd download our build anyhow, "just in case".

Testing this version and its impact on the system, I sincerely believe that BitDefender has lost its focus. It has positioned itself as an antivirus engine licensing company.

Currently the giveaway key works with regular BitDefender Antivirus installer (trial version available from their site) as well as special BitDefender installer available via V3 software store. Will test this again on Monday after release of 2011 version.

Ok, that makes sense. (trial version available from their site) which is what I have installed. I assume then in the 2 days "Warning, the license key will expire in two days", the 2011 version will be out and I can just upgrade to the new version using the key from the trial version from their website?

(Sorry for the questions, just trying to understand this one)

    Matt

I was a Bitdefender user when I used XP, for me was the best protection.. but now in W7 .. you can feel the impact in your system, even after a full system scan..

Searching in the web I found a site with the leaked release of Bitdefender Antivirus 2011 and guess what !!! the setup size is 200MB !!!

    i´m disapointed :(

Not sure how wise this is. 2011 not announced or released yet. If BitDefender scan this discussion, they may pull the promo.

    Be careful.

Respect to V3 for running this offer but after having given Bit defender a trial run well... I'm speechless. I absolutely hated it! It feels massively bloated, temporarily hosed my wireless network and just looks a mess. What happened to BitDefender? They used to be good with AV products :thumbd:

I didnt make a big review of the software I tested it in shadow mode but with Avast! installed too XD I just finished avast! process and then view the resources of Bitdefender .. and I get a little confused because at the task manager these were the 4 process of BD
    bdagent.exe 964kb
    vsserv.exe 10000kb
    updatesrv.exe 6780 kb
    downloader.exe 8010kb

the total could be 30mb of ram ..

my pc didnt feel like using bitdefender 2010 .. 2011 is lighter ..

    I leave some screenshots

I finally received a key but no download link so I downloaded 2011 via a link provided earlier in this thread and I was slightly surprised that the key worked for it.
I now have a 365 day license for Bitdefender Antivirus 2011.

Unfortunately, it's too heavy for my computer.
My CPU is an Intel Prescott 650 (3.0ghz with Hyperthreading) and I have 3.62gb of available RAM.

Following installation on XP Home SP-2 and configuring 2011 for maximum detection, I ran IE 7 sandboxed and task manager showed almost 100% CPU usage and between slightly over 380 mb to nearly 500 mb of RAM when going from MSN.com to Wilder's to Softpedia.com to Gizmo's to...

Pages loaded completely on every occasion, but navagation was something akin to running with weighted boots.
During this test, the only other security software running was WinPatrol Plus and Keyscrambler.
Lowering the detection level had no perceptible effect; BD 2011 was sluggish at any setting.

I typically have been a fan of Bitdefender; it's the only brand I've purchased twice but this version is way too heavy for my computer which is, admittedly, way underpowered by today's standards.
Still, I have to use it, so Bitdefender is off of my list unless/until (they) offer something far more nimble.
