Imho the most effective part of any BD product is it's webguard.

Moreover, I think that B-have and AVC don't work correctly with the free version.

I have tested some malwares with a virtual machine and I have the same result than with just a scan of the files (without launch) : less detections than other antivirus and no detections for many malwares also detected as known by BitDefender normally

No. Iluika said it will COMPLETELY be fixed in the next version update.

It was working fine for me the previous 2 days. Not today. I have to log off my user account and back on for it to work.

Ok, thanks. The last few times I installed it fresh, it worked until a reboot, then it was broken after that. I think I tried it a week or 10 days ago last time. If they get that fixed, then maybe I can use it...

This is very troubling if the free version doesn't perform nearly as well as the paid versions. I don't want to recommend a placebo product.

Supposedly it uses the same technology as Bitdefender Internet Security. The web protection works very well. I don't know how well it works as far as removing viruses.

Can BD Free be used as a stand-alone antivirus program anyway?

Well on another site it said you may need another antivirus program because BD Free can't be used alone and offer full protection.

That site is probably referring to the old Bitdefender Free from 2009 that didn't have real-time protection.

actually, I use BDAV FREE and COMODO CIS. no problem, no lag !

and when I test some malwares, I found more malwares than another antivirus (ESET, KASPERSKY, etc...)
