Bitdefender Antivirus Free - English GUI

Well I am running this on my system and it is superb also it has very light feel. I much prefer this to the paid version which has a heavy feel on my system.

Looks like it does break functionality of chromium browsers... can't load a single page..

 

Just wondering, what version of Windows are you running?

Have you tried Chrome instead of Chromium? Chrome works here flawless.

 

Is this version stable enough for use on a important pc?

 

I am still floored BitDefender did this. The AutoPilot thing doesn't bother me too much as the average user shouldn't make decisions. However, it should quarantine files, not delete them ever.

Also, Iulika0069, would you consider adding this program to Softpedia.com?

Google Chrome wont open under Bitdefender Free.

 

tested this in VMware and it didn't detect the eicar testfile at least for me. Not sure but this is normally recognized by antivirus Software to guarantee that the antivirus is running properly.

Also is this a signature based solution only? Or does it have a cloud ?

 

Glad other people are having this issue also, and that it's not just me. More likely that they fix it.

I had a full scan at 5:45 am on the 24th.
So far there has been no quick sweep scan logged.
Is this normal?

It seems to be running fine on W7 U, alongside comodo fw.
Is anyone having problems with fps? So far so good here from what the logs show.

How can you run a non-idle scan? I don't see any option for that. Also, installed on a Win 7 x64 PC and Win Vista x32 PC with no problems, except I had to restart to get the first update to work.

 

why do people keep asking for quarantine management when there is one

 

BD needs to quarantine and not delete in case of a FP. I played with a PUP and it simply deleted portions of it with no way to recover it.

click tray icon and open GUI. Bottom left click logs. You 3 choices to choose from. Updates, something else and then the one you are looking for.

That's why I find it untenable.

 

I had to uninstall it trough safe mode. Win8 wouldnt boot and was freezing at the screen with the blue window and the loading circle.

 

Well, you know how it is... With security software, releasing betas as stable is very common and basically Wilders is a big, open, beta-test ground. Give it a few program updates and it will be very popular free AV.

So this free version has the same protection like the paid versions but its much lighter. I wonder if this is a pre step to a later paid version... Its too good to be true imo.
