Well, that's a start... Now if everybody using it reports the same, I'll be almost convinced. :)

Advanced configurations would be important imho, I can't stand autoquarantine any more. Even if excluded, Bitdefender quarantines the same file again and again. Sorry Bitdefender, maybe I'll come back in 2015. :doubt:

Thanks for reminding me about that.. I think I'll pass on it for sure now. They just don't seem to put any effort into this one at all, unfortunately. :thumbd:

    I agree,
    • BitDefender FREE includes a extremelly good Process Monitor (Active Virus Control)
    • It blocks malware inmediatelly after installlation before updating :thumb:
    • It query the cloud for even more fine-tuning its anallysis
    • High precision heuristics scanning
    • Virus Signature Database is around 45 MB ---
    • Extremely light on performance

I think no other Free AV is comparable to BitDefender Free

Now if only they could completely fix the log button issue and do something about that auto quarantine...

If you quote me, please don't make additions to my statements, because I have clearly not written the word <FREE>.

Have they changed the quarantine thing i.e are the threats now shifted to quarantine instead of in the original location in unusable state?

If its still the same i.e still the threats remains in the original location in unusable state, any info if they are going to change this i.e shift the threat to quarantine section?

Well I dont know, but surely fewer signatures could mean of detection for Highly prevallent world threats only, which is the method used in AV-Comparatives

Right. It's possible though that the free edition could have the same number of generic signatures locally as the paid edition, and thus get the same score in that particular test. I don't know though.

That could be the difference; traditional signatures grouped and consolidated into generic signatures

You can disable OnAccess scanner by editing the file
    1) change the line to <plugin name="onaccess2" dll="onaccessal.dll" startup="0" />
    2) Restart

That way you can experiment more with Active Virus Control, I would rcommend using Sandboxed runs

Very Strange, no Behavior blockr can detect programs under sandboxie,,,,,BitDefender only

I can think of many (Qihoo, Baidu, Avira, Avast...) that offer similar levels of protection, more configurability, and fewer bugs.

  19. Most AV's have their core service ASLR enabled, Bitdefender free still not designed to facilitate ASLR, as a result it lowers security

On the plus side, there is no AV (also not F-secure) with a lower impact on program startup, only adds less than 7% to IE11 launch time up for instance.

Anyone has a link to Free version being tested by independent organization?

Great AV if you ask me, but I have one problem, when I turn on my PC BitDefender is inactive(black box with red B) for 1 min and after that working normal, tried reinstall using uninstall tool but can't fix this. What can be a problem?

EDIT: Ok, everything is fine now.

    Does this detects PUP?

I am little confused between BD Free & Avast Free, any suggestions/recommendations plzz? System is Win 7 64 Bits.

Does BD Free have any kind of offline protection?

I downloaded setup from the official site. When I tried to run it mentioned download the 64 Bits edition from this link. I downloaded 64 Bits edition. I tried to run, it extracted files & wizard appear, I checked accept agreement & clicked next, here in the second step it gives error mentioning one of the files couldn't be downloaded. Any help?

    System Win 7 64 Bits
