Caution if you have used acronis true image to clone or back up, and are using a newer motherboard with an ICH9R SATA controller; If you haven't tried the boot disk to boot in case of failure, you may find that you will have no way to recover your data!
Those with ICH9R controllers can not see their hard drives when booting from the recovery disk. See other threads for details on this issue
    Please Acronis address this issue.

is is common, most new sata controllers wont work, the acronis recovery cd is based on WinPE, a technology that microsoft has used in their installation progress

even my ATI SB600 wont boot
i think Acornis might want to add a option to add custom drivers to the recovery cd

did you try acronis true image in safe mode ?

Actually the standard recovery disc is based on Linux which is slow in adopting drivers for newer hardware. The safe mode disc is based on MS-DOS.

When you register your disc, Acronis provides a download for the BartPE plugin which is highly customizable. With this plugin you can create a recovery disc and include the drivers you need to have a working disc. If you are unfamiliar with BartPE, for a reasonable fee Mustang has complied a guide and an enhanced plugin. He ,and many others knowledgeable in this matter, posts regularly in this forum if you need extra help. The forums over at 911cd.net are very helpful on building BartPE disc too.

Righto about ATI Boot CD and Linux. Has nothing to do with WindowsPE. You can build a window PE or BARTPE of VisataPE boot CD instead of using the ATI version and they will run on whatever hardware windows runs on.

As for safe mode, actually, it's Caldera's DR DOS, a descendant of the original DR-DOS, which was developed by the original creater of the original DOS that was licensed to MS many years ago? One of the most infamously short-sighted deals in computer history. Microsoft even provided the DOS guy a lawyer for the contract arrangements since he didn't have one.
