    I dunno if its the best but i like to use regcleaner, it lists what software is registered and you can easily go thru and remove whatever is unneeded.

    In general cleaners are overhyped,its safer to stay away from it,if you know Windows workings quite well then perhaps you can benefit from it but otherwise its outright dangerous.

    From previous post:

    - Trustworthy (freeware):

    MV RegClean - very good and reliable;
    Eusing Free Registry Cleaner - safe;
    CCleaner - safe.

    - None of these (freeware) I advice:

    RegSeeker - too aggressive (even harmful: 'blue screen'); if you want to use it "Select all Green items" ever...
    Wise Registry Cleaner - removed valid Shared Dlls'links (from .NET Framework);
    Registry Repair (Glarysoft) - removed valid uninstall info.

    There are quite a few good registry cleaners around and I will be biased to recommend any. If your computer is relatively new, most probably you don’t even need one at this stage. I don’t think there is a best one, we all have our own favorites, depending on many factors such as what operating system you are running for example.

    You should look around and check what people think in forums like this one, blogs, expert reviews, whether product has won any reputable awards and most important of all whether you can get support from the company providing the product.

    Watch out for TuneUp 2008. I've had issues.
    I agree Galary does a good job and it's free.

    There is a lot of debate whether or not reg cleaners generally are a waste of time,but apart from that and if you want safe,non aggressive ones,then I would suggest either CC Cleaner or Easy Cleaner,

    Or probably the best combo JV16,which has a lot of other useful possibilities,the last freeware version DOWNLOAD here
