Here's a brief review of Libre Office 6.0 http://www.zdnet.com/article/libreo...10aaa6b&bhid=27669890266579295406237784147191 And this: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2018/01/31/libreoffice-6/ It's very positive so I may give it a try. The problem with all of the "Office" alternatives though is they don't include an Outlook equivalent.
No, there is no integrated calendar in OE Classic. It's an email client, but a very good one. If a calendar is needed, there are many separate calendar apps that can be used.
At that price, it is definitely not a legit license. It will be something like a volume license that is not intended for individual sale. If Microsoft ever find out that the keys are being sold individually, the product key will be blacklisted and no longer work. That won't always happen. But even if the key works fine and never gets deactivated, it will still not be a legal key.
SoftMaker FreeOffice 2018 promises full Office 2016 compatibility, debuts optional ribbon interface May 16, 2018 https://betanews.com/2018/05/16/softmaker-freeoffice-2018/
Roger- actually many can get Office Pro Plus for 9.95 USD through the Microsoft Home Use Program. Those with an Academic Institution, Governmental, or large company email are eligible worldwide.
Office is nice, I guess. Softmaker is probably good, as are OpenOffice and LibreOffice. I think I'm the one person in the world still using and still happy with WordPerfect.
I got a one year subscription to Office 365 for free from Microsoft. I just had to sign up for an Office Developer account.
Chuck- the true jewel of MS Office is Outlook. It is beautiful code and something that all the other Office clones lack. My opinion only, of course (but I'm always correct- ask my Parents to confirm!)
In terms of use I totally agree, but not sure about the code. Outlook does have it's querks. But I couldn't run my business with out it and none of the office alternatives come even close.
Exactly so, and this is why all of these Office clones cannot gain traction. I would drop MS Office in a heartbeat if one of the alternatives provided an Outlook equivalent.
Thunderbird does not support EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) which works best for hotmail/outlook.com email accounts.
for replacing desktop ms office i only do stuff in there for a while now, doesn't lack any major function.
Yes, you said that in other thread but this doesn't convince me. One can just stop using hotmail. Gmail (not great for privacy, just example) works great with Thunderbird. Mail over imap, Google calendar and so on. I hope Peter2150 is going to answer my question.
I didn't mean to answer for Peter, sorry. I look forward to his answer too. I like Outlook because of the integration. I can easily move between multiple email accounts and the calendar, plus sync across multiple devices including my smartphone. Also, if you have an Outlook.com account it can be used to login to Windows 10 and Office.com; everything ties together. I know that integration through Google is also possible and my Gmail account works very well using IMAP, but it wouldn't be easy to switch after using an Outlook.com email account as my primary for years.
If you need Outlook then MS Office is it. I have WP Office X7, and use the word processor. My mail is an ancient Hotmail account used strictly for junk, and Protonmail for real emails. *edit* I have MS Office 2007 Enterprise but have never installed it. Might do that just to see what all the fuss is about. No need for the latest and greatest. All I need is the word processor and, if not for agents currently wanting everything in an email attachment, I'd be just as happy with my 1940 Royal typewriter.
