Best free program to convert video files?

I am looking for the best free software to use to convert my video files which are in the .mov format into a format which is used by windows media player. I have short video clips which I record with my Kodak EasyShare camera, but the Kodak software stores them as .mov files, and I have to use Apple's QuickTime to view them. When I send the video clip to someone as an attatchment in e-mail who does not have QuickTime installed, they can not view my video clip.

 

Try using TMPGEnc video converter with the mpeg plug-in( to convert .mov file to .mpeg file)

Install TMPGEnc first, then copy the above file into the TMPGEnc folder.

 

Works well! just converted a couple from .mov to .mpg. Looks like only a 30 day free trial though....

Thanks.....but it's the same version I have.....and appears to be a trial.
