    If you restore the entire drive (including the MBR) and it's the only drive on the system, the infection should be cleared. If the virus didn't infect the MBR, then you shouldn't have to restore it.

    If there are any other drives/partitions on the system that have been infected (a data partition containing infected .exe files, for example) and you run them after you restore the system partition, it's very likely that it would reinfect the system partition.

    After performing such a restore, I would recommend you run a complete anti-virus scan of all drives and partitions on the system including any accessible network shares.
