The last amateur tests show a big difference between
Baidu AV - 2013 3.2.1.25229 Beta with default settings and
Baidu AV with Baidu Antivirus Engine - High, plus "Enable Avira Engine".

The results with max protection and enabled Avira - are higher by 35%.
The same amateur tests put Baidu AV with "Baidu Antivirus Engine - High, plus "Enable Avira Engine" among top - 10 AVs.

Also, Baidu with "Baidu Antivirus Engine - High, plus "Enable Avira Engine",) has better detection rates (about 30% +) than Kingsoft Antivirus.

What have they done !
I got a pop up this morning asking for a re boot as new modules have been loaded. The programme has updated to 3.2.1.25452. I looked in Task manager and there is an extra service running (Bavhm.exe) but only with a 2MB footprint. But the AV service BAVsvc.exe is now running at 142MB !

Yesterday it loaded 4 services including Bavsvc.exe with a total footprint of about 25Mb.
Opening some files has also slowed to a crawl. If this doesn't settle down it will be uninstalled as today it's bloatware.
Anyone else having a similar problem after todays update ??

How can anyone have much confidence in this app when its original developers simply ditched the great Kingsoft Cloud AV. They just stopped updating Kingsoft AV (program), stopped supporting it entirely and their forums became one big spammed mess.

I'm not using either one as of now but two days ago I had Kingsoft Cloud AV installed and it was updating just fine

Virus definitions. But the program is pretty much left to rot (no update in ages, before they updated it almost monthly) and the support forums and al the representatives are all gone.

I agree.As long as Kingsoft is updating the definitions,i'll keep on using it as my secondary.
I don't get why the Baidu usb protection is on their pc faster software.I would want that with the antivirus software like Kingsoft does.
I don't need an extra program like pc faster(i don't use pc doctor either).
That's why i will stick with Kingsoft until they stop with the definitions updates,which i hope will be never.

I like Kingsoft USB protect module. I miss it in Baidu.

USB scaning with some dedicated modules is stupid and pointless. Why do they have realtime scanning for then?

My preference would be to keep things simple. You could add USB module protection, then add this and then add that and you end up with a really heavy AV thats virtually unusable. It should be simple, effective, light on resources and user friendly.

No more updates for Baidu Beta. It stopped 4/9/2013.
Very unreliable.

So have this installed for a month or so and very happy with it. But the update situation, at least for me, has been very bad lately. I was able to get the latest version, .27003 beta but had to download it and install it manually. It did automatically install the latest definitions set, dated 17 April, but have not seen anything since. Has anyone else seen anything new or we left holding the bag here. I also have Kingsoft installed on another computer and was given the impression it had been abandoned but still updating everyday.

Anyone have any information regarding Baidu antivirus? I dont really want an antivirus that updates every so often. I realize it is a beta. Also would wonder if the non English version is working any better??

Recently Baidu release another version of its AntiVirus
It was using the Kaspersky Engine Instead of Avira Engine
but it was only in Chinese version
