    Hello hany_77,

    Thank you for your interest in Acronis Software.

    We recommend you to use Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows or Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server to backup your Domain Controller.

    If you want to back up an Active Directory server, please create Active Directory Backup (see Backing Up Active Directory) first, then stop ntfrs and netlogon services either manually or using database support implemented in Acronis True Image Echo.

    Before you start the backup:

    net stop ntfrs
    net stop netlogon

    After the snapshot has been created:

    net start ntfrs
    net start netlogon

    You may also want to read the following extracts from Active Directory Operations Guide by Microsoft:
    Start the File Replication Service

    Use this procedure to restart the File Replication service and review the FRS event log to ensure that the restart succeeded.

    * Credentials: Domain Admins
    * Tools: Net.exe, Event Viewer

    To start the File Replication service

    1. At a command prompt, type net start ntfrs and press Enter.
    2. You can use Event Viewer to verify that NTFRS restarted correctly. Event ID 13501 indicates that the service restarted. Look for event ID 13516 to verify that the domain controller is running and ready for service. If you moved SYSVOL to a new location or relocated the Staging Area folder, look for event IDs 13553 and 13556, which indicate success.

    Stop the File Replication Service

    Use this procedure to stop the File Replication service.

    Requirements

    * Credentials: Domain Admins
    * Tools: Net.exe

    To stop the File Replication service: at a command prompt, type net stop ntfrs and press Enter.
    Stop the Net Logon Service

    Use the command line to stop the Net Logon service. If you are not logged on to the domain controller, you must use Terminal Services to perform this command.

    Requirements

    * Credentials: Domain Admins
    * Tools: Active Directory Sites and Services (Administrative Tools)

    To stop the Net Logon service:

    Open a command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter: net stop netlogon

    Restore

    If you ever need to restore the Active Directory, see Restoring Active Directory

    * Restoring Active Directory Through Reinstallation and Replication
    * Restoring Active Directory from Backup Media

    Please refer to the chapter "Pre/post commands" of the respective User's Guide. You may use batch files to stop and start the data servers.

    Acronis solution for restoring of a system to different hardware is Acronis Universal Restore. Acronis Universal Restore technology provides an efficient solution for hardware-independent system restoration by replacing the crucial Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and mass storage device drivers.

    Note that Acronis Universal Restore is a plug-in for corporate versions of Acronis True Image.

    Acronis Universal Restore is used with image archives and you can find basic instructions on how to use it here. Detailed instructions can be found in the respective Acronis True Image version User's Guide.

    We recommend you to download and install the free trial version of Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows or free trial version of Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server to see how the software works on your computer. With the trial version of the product you will be able to fully use the Windows version for 15 days. The bootable rescue media will be limited to restore function.

    Please also be aware that the trial version of Acronis Universal Restore is not available on Acronis web site. In order to obtain the trial version of Acronis Universal Restore please contact Acronis Support Team. Explain your wish to obtain the free trial version of Acronis Universal Restore and provide your personal information (full name; phone number along with the area code; company name, if any) along with the link to this thread. We'll provide you with the free trial version of Acronis Universal Restore as soon as possible.

    Thank you.
