I have the impression, that BackOnTrack offers only one user-defined snapshot to recover your actual harddisk.
FDISR offers alot more than that, besides Immediate System Recovery.
No competition IMO, just a simple Immediate System Recovery software.

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. They had Go-Back and sold it out to Symantec. Whose to say they won't do it with this.

    Hi Erik,

I believe you can have up to ten snapshots, and the current (active) snap only backs up whats new. Also I believe it does not back-up (I could be wrong) 'My Documents' if so I could lose allot of music etc.. They did say though, BackOnTrack was meant to be a compliment to traditional backup programs.

I'm not sure of the value of these type programs, if you have something like 'ShadowProtect' or 'Acronis TI.'

    Hi Pete,

They also bought StompSoft & are pedaling 'BackUpMyPC' now they have BackOnTrack. So the old StompSofters devloped this, as part of 'Sonic Solutions.' I'll bet they needed cash & sold GoBack to Symantec. Who knows?

I agree, but when the sold GoBack support went to zero. They get no more of my money.

    Hi Pete,

Yeah Symantec support & products suck! However I can't comment on Roxio's support, but there forum is very helpful.

FDISR offers so much more :
    - immediate system recovery
    - upto to 10 bootable snapshots, usable for all kinds of purposes, even for different OS (multi-boot)
    - unlimited number of archived snapshots
    - empty and frozen snapshots
    - anchoring of data folders/files
    - add, delete, rename snapshots
    - copy/update for :
    --- creating new (archived) snapshots
    --- updating existing (archived) snapshots
--- cleaning snapshots and acting like a 100% uninstaller.

All this for the same price of BackOnTrack, $39.99 + $30 extra.
BackOnTrack is a dinky toy compared with FDISR.

Right, I need 30,000 snapshots for a home computer very badly. LOL.
You need an entire bookkeeping to keep 30,000 snapshots under control.

If you create one snapshot each day, you need 82 years to get 30,000 snapshots. You are 100, when you start at 8. :D

100!. Yikes. I would suspect ROllback might get confused with 100 snapshot. I know for sure I would.
