    If you restore the whole disk with the 3 partitions you will end up with a disk with the 3 partitions restored. If you have a 4th partition not included in your backup and you restore the whole disk I believe the 4th (not-included in the backup) partition will be deleted.

    If you restore the 3 partitions one at a time then the wizard will allow you to select the partition on the disk you want each backup partition to be restored to.

    So for a full image restore if I backedup 3 and want to restore 3 just like it was.
    Can I trust TI to do this or do I have to do it one at a time and tell them were to go.
    Thanks

    If you tell it to restore the whole disk it should, if you tell it to restore selected partitions it should but as far as trusting it on your system that is your issue. I trust it on my system.

    You need to get your hands dirty and see how it works on your system - nobody else's experience matters when the crunch comes. Suggest you find a spare HD, make some images of your drive and restore to the old HD trying everything you think you might do such as a baremetal restore on your system with the rescue CD. The reality - this is the only way to have confidence in any backup program.

    My son's Evesham laptop went bellyup when he spilt drink on it. Fortunately I had taken an Image with TI 10 and succesfully restored his hard drive back to normal again, including PC Angel.

    You may not need it in the future but I would also request the "Drivers CD" from Evesham for your machine; they initially wanted £10 for it but actually sent it to me for free.

    TI will do what you tell it to do.
    You select which *.tib files are to be used in the restore.
    You select which partitions or partitions or disks are to be restored.
    You tell TI where these image files are to be restored. You choose their destination.

    As SeekForever stated, TI can restore single or many partitions. If follows Your instructions. (Be sure you assign unique names to your drives--do not use drive letters assigned by TI).

    The best and safest test is to restore to a new replacment drive and retain your old drive untouched.

    c:\boot.ini
    You might want to consider installing the XP Recovery console to your boot menu from CD. Since your Recovery CD has sp2, adding should be very easy. Here are a couple links.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307654

    You may wish to reduce the number of seconds it displays the menu. You can use Notepad and change the 30 to a lessor number. I use 8

    My boot loader looks like this. Yours may differ in disk #, etc. I have edited and added the 2nd line safe mode entry. If you install the Recovery Console, the install program will add its entry to the boot.ini file as in the 3rd line.

    • [boot loader]
      timeout=8
      default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
      [operating systems]
      multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Normal-- XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
      multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Safe Mode--XP Pro" /fastdetect /safeboot:minimal /sos /bootlog
      C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons

    I bet you were glad to have had the forethought to TI you laptop, thanks for the info Blackcat. To be honest I have never needed to use PC Angel and I suspect now with me using Acronis TI that I won't need to. I was lucky when I bought my PC to have had the Support Driver CD included in the box with all the other discs etc. Thanks again.

    Thank you for the info GroverH, I have took your advice and installed XP Recovery console to my boot menu. Thanks again everyone for all the help you have provided.
