This is the THIRD time that I've come to this conclusion! Each time I try something new for 3-9 months and go back to AintNir. Well this Update disaster has led me to Avast ( :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: ) and a 14-month license. So I'll be back in Nov'08 againo_O B4 this turns into a comparison war that gets locked, I'll stop here!

I think they would greatly benefit from a public beta version before each release since a number of people see bugs of some sort.

However, everything is working great on my three computers using Avira (Either PE Prem or the Suite).

The only bug is that "last system scan" thing that isn't happy unless a scan is launched by that particular link.

They do have public betas....they're called PersonalClassic!!! But seriously, their servers couldn't handle the extra load of beta updates too!!!

Yeah and it's a shame. It's a darn good av I've used over and over but can't get past the shortfalls. It's still at the top with me and I'm sure everything will work out.....Good new features!

If what I am reading on this thread is correct, the premium versions have there share of bugs for some people as well.

The premium version was my first issue. I couldn't get through the trial because of cpu-spikes? I uninstalled and went for Classic version, which ran GREAT for a while. I haven't made it to the renewal phase yet. If I could, I would've bought it by now. So beta testingo_O I think that would be the perfect idea!!!

all of this is pure poppycock. Both the AV and Suite are as stable as anything out there. Sure, there may be issues with a few, but those are the only ones you hear from. Human nature doesnt drive the positive to post. But this I know, Avira is going to be a company to reckon with for a long time. They are enhancing their products faster then anyone else and with fewer issues. Best AV on the market and a 3 year license is a steal.

I think my Mom said "Insecure" was my middle name.

Bottom line is, no matter what vendor your issue is with, you have to patiently work with them to resolve it. That is why most have a support forum and why the Eset folks get such great support here.

    Step 1 Step 2, ahh yes,

So it's just "pure poppycock" bellgamin and I get "Internet connection failed" messages with Avira Premium even though there's nothing wrong with our dial-up and broadband connections? Thanks for explaining that. You'd have a promising career as a software technical support representative.

"Best AV on the market" isn't precisely how I'd describe a program which inexplicably refuses to download updates and fails ShieldsUp! port scans with its firewall's default setting. I'd have to "steal" Avira's 3-year license as I haven't found a reason yet to pay money for it. When I tried Avira several months ago on my XP PC, your "best AV on the market" gave me more false positives in a single system scan than all AVs I've ever used over a period of several years.

Internet failures can be based on a host of issues, some not even related to software. I could have told you the current firewall would not pass the shields up test. That is why changes this year are coming to it. Check out Matousec's latest ratings and you will see it is rated poor. And the tr stands for transportation, which is my life.:)

    this forum is biased!
every new feature avira offer, people have problems.

i think they need to work on their beta periods, they obviously dont last long enough.
