How have you managed to get avira to update every 2 hours.?
Mine is 6 hours minimum and i cant change it.

Go to Scheduler-Insert new job-choose new update job-Daily and hour you want to-Invisible.That's it,hope it helps.

I find its.good to set schedualed updates. Even though avira is set to update every 6 hours i find that they usually push new definitions every 2 to 3 hours.

I find the duration of updates to be of little importance.Every 2-6 hours is more than adequate.

It's very light, set it up on scan when writing.

It is not an opinion.
Most AV,s have a cloud option and avast has a streaming update function so its more than just an "opinion."

 

I never said it was fact. All I am stating is in my experiences in the past I had updates every 2-3 hours. now maybe this was to fix fps or some other issue.

 

Just had a update at 12pm and checked on a whim for a update at 1pm and had a update where 2 files were updated....so that's why I have it set to check for updates every 2hrs, though now I might reduce it to every hour

Man,you are obsessed by those tests.On my laptop too,Avira free is lighter than any other AV i tried.Not to name them,but if i had to i will...

 

Obviously, both you are more experienced than AV-C , AV-Test & VB100.

Well, avs do feel different on different systems.. maybe heavy on one and light on another!

 

We are talking here about how light an AV is on the system,not about detection rates....so i don't care how experienced are those guys with their tests,geez....

Did you see anything about detection rates?

Maybe you will realize that those guys are making some tests named "PERFORMANCE".....

 

Every single Antivirus program in the world will miss something sometime or other. One month it might stop 100% the next it might only stop 97%. As we all know, or should do by now is because Threats get more and more complicated everyday more or less is that it might take a little time for your favorite AV to catch up with the times and block everything it once did.

This is not meant to be an invitation for people to run amok like deranged psychopaths uninstalling the old, and installing the new just because their AV has dropped a point or 2. It's a case of scare tactics, that the lesser the least better, which is not always true. Also if people took more notice of this, and excepted the fact, then there would be no need to worry about it, If you don't get a Virus, then why the hell bother swapping and changing? It makes no sense at all
