It's simple.. Ditch the toolbar/ask. License the COMMTouch resources like Bullguard did, and integrate that into the product. What the heck is wrong with you Avira?
the toolbar has been ditched For COMMTouch Avira also have an resource from other company(web protection data base) Some come from IBM Proventia Web Filter
I can't understand why they always display notifications about their junk tools. However, I won't ever buy a software because of idiotic nagging ads, I would rather uninstall all Avira products.
The boot up time isn't solved yet in the 4.642 build , it still takes a long time when Avira is loaded when you start the computer. When wi'll this be solved?
One of the verified issues was the conflict between MBAM Realtime-Protection and Avira Realtime-Protection. If it is something else: please send us a report file from the affected computer to analyze the issue (if you are in the beta center over that channel). Thanks!
Maybe by the time the new database format is introduced( it must have been released by now,,along with the presentation of 14.0.4 ,but there is a 14.0.5beta and still no xvdf)
with the beta the computers boot up fine and quickly but it still takes forever for the network to connect and still a bit to long before i can actually start working with it. i can not suggest trying the beta though because so many web pages do not load correctly or even at all with it. many load to a blank page or some will load all jumbled up.
the web protection in beta version is very unstable it's services will always terminate/stop with unknown reason
Btw the paid version is awesome...The APC cant do everything I mean obviously it cant...but proactive guard stuff is impressive!
New test resulst from AV-test.org on windows 8 for april. Avira score is 100% 6 out 6 points protection, 17,5 out of 18 points also high score for Qihoo 360 (free) http://www.av-test.org/en/home/
imo av-test results are never accurate. especially their performance scores. they rate some of the heaviest suites as a 6 out of 6. there is no way some should be that high.
What proactive protection does Avira use on 64bit systems? Weren't they unable to develop ProActiv for 64bit systems? Is it still used on 32bit systems?
There is no ProActiv for 64 bit systems because of MS patchguard. I honestly think it's not necessary as it might slow down the system and detection with APC is great.
But still there is registry and process protection, thats also a part of proactive (even installed on a 64x)
new beta 5 has been released for those who test the beta. it says one of the fixes is the blank web pages but i still have the issue doesnt seem to have fixed it honestly. will send my findings into avira.
Thanks for the info, zfactor. For anyone using Opera, there is now an avira browser safety extension available. https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/avira-browser-safety/
this is no faster at all then beta 4. either with boot up or network connection at startup so not sure what the xvdf is really doing but not speeding anything up for me at least. in fact i think the system is a bit slower overall with this build.
I did not think the xVDF format was active yet? The beta code has support for it but I thought it was not turned on yet so it won't be quicker at the moment. Anybody confirm?
What is a xVDF and which advantages do I have as a customer? http://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/1639
