from avira manual: it suggests that after 1st update subsequent updates should be very small.this process can even be automated by using simple batch file & windows scheduler since fusebundle generator is command line tool.i use kaspersky updater utility in a similar manner daily though it has a gui with many options.
I was using the fusebundle generator with Avira Command Line for awhile. It will update incrementally (earlier versions didn't), but 7anon is right. It is a labor intensive process even with batch files (or Autohotkey scripts in my case). Avira just needs to back off all of the marketing crap in future premium AV versions.
Good Evening! To silence constructive criticism is simply mindful Fascism...alludes to an ugly past! As stated previously...I'm leaving Avira for good...no one should have to deal with such a warped mentality! Sincerely...Securon
Hmm. I use outbound filtering with my firewall and I can tell you that when I last used Avira without the toolbar apnstub.exe would sometimes try to connect to the internet because it was in my log of blocked connections.
REALLY?! Just re-installed Avira last night via their online installer. Waited ~30 minutes until all components have been downloaded. UAC prompt showed up, I clicked yes. Guess what happened? ERROR: missing setup.dll. Are you serious now?! How come? Do you even realize about what have you done to me, Avira? You just wasted the precious 30 minutes of my life and I will never get it back!! BLAAAAAARRGH!!!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Thankfully it worked on the 2nd try, but still...
You are the king of Smilies, my friend! My little foray with Avira 2012 has come to an end. On version 10 and 2012, I'm having a conhost.exe process launch and hang at logon which I can't seem to stop. Avira 2013 doesn't do that, but I don't need all of the marketing crap and the Ask files on my system. Back to EAM (which was a quick and painless process thanks to Acronis TI).
I'll consider it as a compliment, thank you. Still though, I'm irritated of this nonsensical problem. I've never had installation problems with other AVs beside Avira and Avast.
I don't agree with all the Ask crap included with Avira at all! But I can fully understand why that thread was closed, anyone who reads the last post can see why that thread was closed.
Warning: Completely and totally off-topic post here.... But I can't help but think of the Oak Ridge Boys song from over 30 years ago every time I see the name of the antivirus mentioned in this thread. Just substitute an "A" with "El" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdFghZmdwXk
I agree but ..... the main problem is the customer politeness or the customer rights (on Ask crap)? Even when the customer is wrong, the customer remains the King.
Just installed avira free on to my computer and overall im extremely impressed. Runs smoother than avast and i dont even know an av is installed.
Doesn't mean the customers can do whatever they wish without paying attention to the boundary of their rights. Interesting, I might want to try Avast just to compare it myself.

Well, I actualy see more funny comments from ppl (here and there) than "Ask" thing itself. I wonder what will be the next thing what Avira bashers complaint about, after this company finally decides to get rid of "Ask"
Strange that people keep speaking of a toolbar.I was not offered a toolbar and none was installed. Weird.
