2014 screens are out if you look around. interface is exactly the same as before. even the beta downloads are posted around if you google them already lol. and they are NOT from me.
Sad to see avira is losing its value. Avira should completely re-write their code from scratch to make it compatible with Windows instead of removing the incompatible part from their antivirus.
Post from MT which schows screenshots ! http://malwaretips.com/Thread-Avira-Version-2014-beta?pid=135252
Re: Sorry for being slow... Thanks for the replies. Im using Avira Personal alongside Private FW, DNS Crypt, Sandboxie Web P still not installing after LSP Reset and turning off PFW... maybe dnscrypt?
Did you try the procedure given in raymond.cc website ? Problem is web protection needs proper toolbar installation. The toolbar makes an entry in registry, which Avira checks and activates Web Protection. But recently toolbar installation has some problem. If you follow the trick in the link it should work. Else the problem is different. You should post in Avira support forum. Install the registry key and then do modify install for web protection.
no offense but i read those comments before and i dont care. instead of yanking components from us they should have re-wrote them or do what avast did and lic something like outpost etc. when we pay for things that include certain items and we pay for 3 year lic's..... dont bother arguing about it if it is not compatible RE-WRITE them to make them. many other companies have done this. even stephan himself commented to me directly he was not happy about the way they were taking the program....
im using it now. the 2014 beta the firewall is junk. all it does is turn on win firewall. even when you go to advanced setting and click on apps all it does is simply open windows firewall which can be done normally by anyone without avira. it doesnt add actual apps to it. i want APP CONTROL. simple as that a easy way to for a short time or long time block specific apps from either out or in. no offense but your remarks 7anon are ridiculous. ill ignore them. and it seems many agree with me on this same point. again no offense. and regarding a refund i bought these lic's over a year ago thinking i could USE THEM. i have been waiting and waiting and waiting while my time ticks away and all i was offered was a free lic. not one for each i bought but ONE. i own 5 total 3 pc lic's all ticking away because they are useless to me since the issue i face is a direct result of the firewall in 2013 and this has been verified by stephan and their solution remove it... dont try to fix it.. why bother. just remove it. on another note the beta for me will not update at all. reinstalled 3 times nothing blocking it. refuses to update. simply an error occurred in the download message. and i have net access and nothing being blocked at all. restoring system now so far the beta adds nothing for me just takes away things i paid for.
zfactor,if you have join the version 2014 come to the beta forum in there and make some reply I have open a thread which is talk about that issues
Does anyone know what happened to the firewall for the XP version ? How is it on resources, both for WIN XP and WIN 7 ? (512 MB RAM ? ) What I read is indeed disappointing. It seems they are going the way Symantec used to go a couple of years ago, marketing and a mediocre product. So now they have that cloud thingy.
I know I pay more by sticking to one year licences when offered, but it is because of things like this that I do. You just never know what a developer is going to do.
I agree. I also must admit that when too many people have nothing but negative comments about a software, developers should pay a bit more attention, and do something about it. I often wondered what would I choose if I were to pick another company, unfortunately they all have flaws: Heavy impact, bugs, expensive, bad past experiences to name a few, and I have decided to use Avira only on demand, therefore there is little interaction with the OS. I do agree however that Avira is not as impressive as it used to be.
