No, and since Tjark really likes Luke for nostalgic reasons, the name is probably going to stay with us for a bit ;)

Some people love the fact we use that name, others don't.

    We have a winner :)

We have introduced a new machine learning based local detection technology.
    Result:
    - VDF size reduced to 51MB (from 240+MB)
    - much faster initialization and update times (also helps boot times)
    - better generalization of detection

    Enjoy!

awesome - part of why i had stopped using avira was that the vdf updates disrupted games pretty bad (and my system is pretty powerful - i7 7700, 32gb ram, ssds, etc) so i'm excited to give it another shot.

*EDIT* any chance that you might eventually update the configuration UI (non-connect parts) of the AV itself? it's hard to use on high resolution displays, and i have to work around it by overriding scaling on the UI's binary so that i can even read the left hand column. thx!

What resolution and DPI are you running at?
A revamp of that part is definitely on my wish list from the team as well. Will probably be Q4 for release, but we've already started UX experiments on the future logic/information architecture of the config center.

Interesting bug today... Avira AV Pro beta keeps giving me a notification that I'm logged in, every second, on Windows 10. I HATE muting my AV. but it was either that or uninstalling until it's fixed.

I assume you reported it in the beta center? Not having that much of a close look atm, because I am on vacation.

Hi @marcuskng. Are you working on a better integration into Windows? I recently had problems with remains from Avira which was installed years ago on a PC I worked on. I don't remember much, but Windows complained about Avira when I tried updating to 1803, I think. (How old am I?) :D I have similiar experiences with own PCs, and I also read about them here and there.
That is why I stay away and usually advise against it. (I'm not a professional, so that's ok xD)

This is actually a bug by Microsoft, we`ve been in contact with them about this for a while and at least part of it has been resolved on the last patchday. There was another scenario discovered this week, as I hear that bug was resolved on their end too, but I do not know yet whether it is already live... one of the things that I wanted to check on Monday when I am back in the office.

The issue is that that they locate outdated but inactive drivers and claim incompatibility during the upgrade process.
Try searching your HD for avipbb.sys and delete any occurences outside the program or windows folder.
This can be a result of unpacking files or some software distribution packages leaving temp files lying around, backups, etc...

Keep using the launcher? I would not use Avira if it is like that. I hate launchers :cautious:

All of these should have been resolved on Microsoft's end. If you still experience this somewhere, it would be great to let me know.

What's your work on the Behavioral Blocker-side of things? Are you guys working on it?

Behavior events can either trigger local blocks or cloud checks. Also, we have behavioural analysis and detection in several of our cloud-based detection modules.

It's constantly extended, but has little to do with "old-school" behavioral blocking a la PREVX back in the days.
