I will be uninstalling soon as well. I have paid copies of Webroot I can use for personal use if Avira wants to run their program into the ground.

User issues like these are why I only buy a licence for one year at a time.

i have been told they will allow the custom install in the future but the launcher will be required for the lic'ing as i previously said. i love avira pro BY ITSELF. i dont want these "extras" (as they call them i call them bloat and junk)

Just started experiencing random blue screens on three personal PC's inside my house, all with Windows 8.1 and AMD processors (FX-62, Phenom 1100T, FX-9590). Uinstalled Avira on all three PC's and no further issues.

Two other PC in the house running Windows 7 and using Intel CPU (4960X, 4770K) have had zero issues.

Looks like the whole household may be changing back to Webroot.

Seems weird to connect the BSOD with Avira and without any major version update/upgrade.
Is it possible just one of the daily xVDF to be the cause of BSOD? I don't think so.

fyi: Two PC with Avira Pro and AMD processors =
    a) Windows 8.1U1 64-bit & AMD FX-8320,
    b) Windows 8.1U1 32-bit & AMD FX-6100
    no problems.

this behavior really sucks. I used to use Avira on my spare computers, but I guess I'll move on to find another AV suite.

It could be that Avira is not compatible with some other (security) software that you have installed on your pc.
I know for sure that Avira PRO + Outpost firewall combination gives you blue screen.

What security software did you use with Avira??
xVDF Should not the reason cause the bsod ,It doesn't do anything related in the system level,

One of the PC's is still experiencing BSOD. The other two seem to be fine as soon as I uninstalled Avira.

The PC having issues has AppGuard installed as well. Has worked alongside Avira with no issues for quite some time. I uninstalled AppGuard in safe mode and cleaned up the remains via Revo uninstaller, and am still having constant BSOD. WHEA errors, IRQ not equal, etc. The BSOD range from hardware related BSOD to software related, so I have yet to figure out what the issue is with this PC. For information purposes, it is the FX-9590 pc which is heavily overclocked. It has been taken down to default clocks and voltages and is still experiencing issues. I will probably just reformat and reinstall windows 8.1.

The other two are happy as can be now that Webroot is on them.

What is very strange is all three were experiencing a plague of the same BSOD that started all on the same day.

This didn't start after a windows update by any chance?

i STILL have no update from .570. been waiting and waiting, reinstalled many times using the newest update 7 from the beta center and can not get anything newer. .570 sucks because it has the issue that kills downloads.

Even if you install from the offline installer, when you reboot the system a window appears that asks you to install an update and guess what? This update is the Avira Launcher :(

True. I don't understand what the heck is wrong with the devs. I think they need to have their heads examined. I uninstalled all Avira from my computers. I will not recommend it to anyone from now on, until Avira stop doing such kind of nonsense.

hopefully they are reading all this and can see no one wants this launcher nor do they want the online essentials. regardless of hoe much was spent on its development it should be highly re-thought. i dont know of anyone who wants this stuff, and i also know of probably more than a dozen (probably more) who have uninstalled avira in my local area because of this.

Z, you are so right, I have seen the light and returned to Eset until Avira ditches the idea of what ever it was we were talking about in this thread.
