No the development team has found certain critical bugs in the latest build so it will take time. The info is from their forum support member hschuette

I'm also not interested in changing something that is working very well for a specific task. I'm downgrading my layered defense as I find that most of the stuff is redundant for my system and habits. Avira Premium is now used only on demand in conjunction with Shadow Defender, I have uninstalled Anti-Executable as well for the same reasons.

My Vista is now very fast indeed. If Avira adds a behavior blocker or whatever, I'm sure it'll be up to the user to activate it or not. I can also understand that in terms of marketing they have to be on a par with the competition.

The same for me. This the reason for I asked in my previous post here if Avira 10 runs in conflict with Defense+: someone knows ?

Yeah thanks I got an email this morning but I cant upgrade because I still have issues with the old one. I can't upgrade until the support team says so. How is it though? Did they fix the GUI bugs?

YW. Haven't installed yet I'll try it later, I'm still with the previous build installed on a Win 7 machine and haven't experienced any serious issue except for the usual translation process on GUI. I'm running the Professional version though.

Anyone know if they are going to change their way of advertising the pro version in the free version this time?

I think it doesn't matter, you can 'crack' the advertising. I would use Avira Free if the update would work flawlessly, let's hope they solve this problem finally :thumb:

No not yet. I plan on it but I was having to many problems with the last build to worry about it, and I just installed the new build today. I'm going to give this build a few days and then I will probably test it. It seems to be running good right now though.

You have to register here and after the registration the avira team will give the permission to download and test their product.

Well more problems. With the guard enabled no web pages will load. Also when I try to put my computer to sleep I get a BSOD.

This latest beta won't even install here. Looks like another build is on the way soon.

I haven't had any BSOD except when I try to put the computer to sleep. The internet problem is most annoying. Oh well I am gonna continue on with a2 5 beta until I hear from the Avira support team. New a2 is looking great though.

I tried installing it on my 64bit machine and it disabled my internet completely. It said I was connected but it could not resolve any web addresses.

Im having this same problem on x86 machine and it stops immediately if you disable the Avira Guard. No doubt its the proactive module, but at least this build is running with proactive installed.
