    After trialing both I have to go with KIS 7. Runs good on the xp box and will on the Vista box when I add a little more ram. Avira can't even get the icon to stay visable in the notification tray half the time. Ya know you should really turn this thread title around KIS vs ASS :eek:

    Running Avira SS on the 1 gig Vista box makes the system perform the same way KAV 7 did. Running Vista with 1 gig ain't as snappy as 2gig. :D

    Pricing is one factor here, at least fo me. Trying to confirm whether Avira gives renewal disount on suite and how much but so far I only have heard from some in thier forum there is no renewal disount so that's bad as far as I am concerned. Stand to be corrected.

    Gary,

    This has been confirmed on their forums. Whilst Avira is cheaper to buy initially, it's not necessarily so if you take a longer term view.

    You have some conflicting software/drivers there (Spyware Doctor or something like that).

    I have been testing KIS since its early 6.x alpha versions. It just slow your computer down.

    To me, Avira Suite performance is irrelevant unlesss they get their prices more in line with others. No renewal discount is outrageous to me. They can charge whatever they want but do this and offer no professional email support to paying USA customers is not attracting me to buy their product, no matter how good it may be.

    With the amount of signature updates KL issues, I feel the heuristics will be moot anyway unless they reduce the frequency of these updates, but judging by comments Eugene has made, it doesn't look like there's to be any change in that direction, which is good.

    KIS :thumb:
    With this new official beta 1 version even more.
    It is faster than ever. And with the new heuristic emulator we are even more safe than ever

    how good is the anti-hacker compared to comodo?

    Avira is the schnitzel! Light, fast, high detection.

    Avira heuristics = Rottweiler {Für dein Leben laufen! :eek: :eek: :eek: }
    KIS heuristics = cute leetle fox terrier *puppy*

    I recommend the Rottweiler.

    Not to get off topic, but I've been using Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 since last October. I just finished running the Kaspersky online scan, which took quite a while to run, and it didn't find anything. Besides Trend, the only other guards I have are Spyware Terminator, which I think is great, and Spyware Blaster. I hate nothing more than to be bogged down while trying to move around on the internet. And with what I have running, that's not a problem.

    It allready is a pitbull. The emulator in v7 is far more effective than a regular heuristic engine.

    my KISbeta v7's heuristics/emulator isnt detecting anything... signature catches it all... i cant find any new undetected malware to see if emulator can detect it.
