Avira AntiRootkit Tool 1.3.0.1 released

why do u keep mentioning power eraser? im referring to Avira's antirootkit tool...

 

In my honest opinion, This is down right stupid.
What happens if I try to clean an infected machine, Can't use Avira anti rootkit!


This antirootkit should be used as fishing bait to reel customers in. It's defiantly not doing that.. I don't want to touch the bait.

 

As a point of reference for a product that scans for rootkits and yet has a separate antirootkit tool, as some people such as yourself or mick92z seemed to be questioning either the need for a separate tool or questioning why the antirootkit scanner in the Av did not have the same functionality as the separate tool or why the antirootkit in the Av in question seemed ("intentionally worse") inferior.

 

well ye, it seems pointless for avira to have a standalone antirootkit tool that ONLY work wen u already have avira installed, and no one has said pointed out if it says ther is any difference between what is in avira and this standalone tool

 

You are entirely correct that no one has said. However without naming another product doesn't it stand to reason that the separate tool for a product that is already installed and only works with the resident AV (Avira) is likely to be more aggressive?
