There seems that you'll have a choice on how to update to the newer version:thumb:
Yes the Beta testing has now finished and V8 is nearly at the rollout stage, you will be able to upgrade to the new V8 via a normal update method. Or if you wish download the new installer and reinstall your Premium version that way, the choice is yours. :)

Very slick install, you need to manually activate the webguard via add/remove programs after rebooting.

I've just tried the GRC Leak test and there is no loopback problem, Comodo still passes in basic mode with Avira 8 Webguard activated.

    Good job Avira. :D

Try a reboot. I rebooted and it flashed a pop up telling me I could manually activate Webguard via add/remove programs. it is now working fine with no slow down of my PC or browsing the web.

correct, or you can go to add and remove in control panel, and hit modify. It adds it that way.:thumb:

Suite updated fine, however the download link at Avira still reprts the latest version being from Sept 2007  Anyhow.. it pounced on this bugger right away:

    TR/PSW.LdPinch.TAW.256

What that is I've no idea but I deleted it anyway along with something called vstub in C:\WINDOWS both were quarentined by the suite and I threw them out ;)

Wait a Sec its just said TR/PSW.LdPinch.TAW.256 is a Trojan Horse :ninja:

Upgraded via update here, about 7 MB. Rebooted to enable webguard. No immediate problems with Vista firewall. Then all these bugs started crawling out of my computer, smoke came out of my ears. Everything is normal again, LOL. I feel so safe & secure.

Version 8 was pushed out to my computer this morning at 7:00 AM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time). The webguard is listed in the updated components (go "About Antivir"), but there is no entry for it in the configuration menu. I don't know if this is normal or if I have to activate the webguard? My first impression of the GUI is good! The features are more integrated and easy to access.

How's it compare to version 7? (scan speed, stability, user interface)

If the GUI is different, anyone able to post some screenshots? :p

I just got the update here. Everything seems to be working OK here so far. Got the webguard configured after I rebooted.

It's using significantly more RAM (about 20MB) with I think one more service running but no noticeable slowdown here on XP with a very modest system. Browsing and running programs is as fast as before and no conflicts with Comodo 3 Firewall.

The antibot feature keeps nasties from using your email you send things out. The way to configure it is, right below the wording of "Allowed servers, there is a white box to type in your server name. It is kind of hard to see. Then hit add. Do the same under the heading "Allowed from".

If someone were to google 'avira slickdeals', and then click on the first link, they might get a six month licence of Avira Premium for zero. ;)

    Just a suggestion. :thumb:

Mine uses the same amount of RAM as before, plus the memory used by the new service, of course, the WebGuard. And it's very smooth so far, no problems. Tested the WebGuard on the Eicar page, and it worked as expected. Thumbs up.
