    I hope they:

    A) Update the GUI

    B) Introduce a sandbox similar to Avast for example.

    C) Introduce fingerprinting for previously scanned files.

    D) Make the firewall in their suite more intelligent.

    I am very unhappy with the development going on. It is sad to see the momentum getting wasted like this.

    Hopefully there will be something of interest in the upcoming beta.

    I'm member of QA of Avira and I can say that there is a new scanning engine, with some little features, as part of Avira 10 SP2.
    Thanks ;)

    He is.

    I agree.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I recently added another year to my license for Avira Premium, using the excellent bargain price which is still available at Cnet.
    I am fully persuaded that the forthcoming version 12 will sustain or excel Avira's past records of excellence.
    A boot time scanner option like that implimented in Avast would be nice.
    Judging from your comments, AVIRA has some serious internal problems as a company. I know how it is when management doesn't want to listen to the ppl who work for them on "lower" levels.
    Well avira team need to really need to tighten up otherwise they would have to deal with alot of unsatisfied customers. Better they focus on their primary goals and rather than adding bloated features:thumb:
    They just moved into their new headquartier, I think this is the reason why they skipped Version 11 and this is why they still have internal problems. However, in the Avira Forum Avira 12 is said to be very good.
    I'm pretty sure they will implement cloud technology: New Headquartier > more Space > more Servers(?) > cloud computing :thumb: . At least, i hope so. :p
    But we'll see :rolleyes:
    WOW, and I am too tight to pay $39.99 for F-Secure IS.:oops:
    I just ditched Avira IS because of scans that ran over 8 hours. In the past I encountered that, and the Avira forum folks said I should get rid of MBAM and Win Patrol. That is a non-starter, and any AV that will not run well with those two gets "gone." Except for long scan times Avira ran well, and I have confidence in its protection.
    trjam,
    Sounds to me that Avira has jumped on the Chrome and Firefox's version creep bandwagon. At least they're not putting out a new version every six weeks!
