Talk about repetition. If I'm going in circles it looks like I've got company. Still I find it interesting that a lot of the wringing of hands and nashing of teeth is coming from some people who don't even use the software judging from their sigs.

Woooaaah my words are not written in rock but anyways i just looked around through Google and it seems ProActiv was mentioned in wilders back in May 13, 2009 in my search that took me . . . 10 seconds :D So even my estimation was a bit short, it's been 2 years and a half.
    Wilders thread for reference

Okay back on topic D00ds before we get this derailed

After reading the comments from users who have tested the BETA.
It surely doesn't sound like a good BETA release at all, back to the drawing board I say.

so, how many of you beta testers actually read the Avira NDA you agreed to when you signed up for the beta? just curious.

Most "changes" actually seem to be bug fixes. After a closer look into the "new" version the list of new features seems to be quite short:

    - "New" GUI. Actually only the start page has been modified a little. In most other windows only the images have been replaced. What's new about this??
    - IPv6 support - this is actually also not a new "feature" but rather a "should have been done 2 years ago".
    - Detection of "incompatible" software. It seems that they're using a 3rd party SDK for this. So actually they are not detecting incompatible software but rather detecting and uninstalling anything which is anti-virus or which is close to anti-virus or anti-malware.
    - o_O

    What about
    - x64 support for ProActiv?
    - ProActiv improvement at all? Detection ratio currently is close to 0%!
    - Getting rid of this damn winsock layered service provider?
    - Speed up of antispam?
    - Cloud support?
    - SSL support for emails?
    - Better support of IMAP?
    - Improvements in rootkit detection?
    - ....

    Did I miss anything?

And this is the list of "improvements" in almost 1.5 years of developmento_O What's new in version 12 which is worth skipping version 11?
Sorry guys - this seems to be anything but competitive! Bye, bye Avira!

[edit] Btw. I used the software for a long time until version 10![/edit]

I was also a long time user of Avira 9 but when they started delaying the license date extension past 9/1/2011 I bailed. It seems now the license has been extended on V9 but only for 5 months. So, I finally got tired of the whole thing and switched to a competitor's free edition. So far I have been very happy with it.

Just got this running on my windows7x64 rig. Seems my problems were due to my Beta key. Running well with Outpost Pro for now.

    These products can't be updated.
Is this the same for you?

They don't provide any forum now, so I asked here...

yep, thats the one you log into and then can go to forums. I cant answer your other questions, you would need to ask them.:)

your username is your email address, not like the old beta where you used a user name.

Well, this is odd. I was logged in as I was able to access the Download section. I logged out and logged in again and now it works...

that's where all the discussion should go anyway, since discussing it here violates the NDA. (unless there's a special case for wilders.)
