FYI. I see that the Installation Files page now shows an AVG Download Manager, dated January 26, 2009 (?), and from what I read in the Forum, it's more for the benefit of dial-up users due to its smaller file size.

robinb, have you or any of your clients seen an update popup for 8.5 that includes this Download Manager? Any issues?

No, you have to pay EUR 19.99 to activate! Clever ;)

Haha, too bad :D The automatic removal-mode of AVG doesn't work as good as I would like, so it comes after other free AV software in my case. If that feature was also free, though, it might change my order. ;)

FYI. Version 8.5.325 came through the normal update today and as noted by ance, the ID Protection component is installed but not active.

    2009-05-07_090437.gif

The Update page still shows version 8.0.237 (Feb. 22, 2009) so the switch to the 8.5 version is not complete.

What version did you download, from where. When I download the Free I do not see the ID protection (I still have aPRSC key).

Edit found it: EU version does not recognise AVG IP, UK version does on my PC o_O

Hi robinb :) I noticed that AVG Free doesn't have the icon Anti-Rootkit a few months ago! Is this a simple scan for hidden files like AVG Anti-Rootkit Free? Or what is it?

FYI. The Installation Files page now shows version 8.5.329 (May 6, 2009). No additional info found as to why the change in version.

Documentation page now shows a new User Manual 8.5.4 (May11, 2009) but Updates page still shows version 8.0.237 (February 11, 2009).

they took out the rooktit in the free version and put in webscanning instead.
Personally i would have liked if they left the rootkit scanning in but i have rootkitscanning in superantispyware (it is in the free and the pro)

The only difference is this option?! There are a lot of free Anti-Rootkit tools out there :)
