I've noticed that AVG AS Free v 7.5.1.43
has not updated by the programs interface since 6/27/08

Have the Updates come to an end or is this just a temporary thing

I thought updates were to continue until the end of 08

If it hasn't updated by tomorrow it is dead for sure...well, on my systems anyway.;) I was planning on keeping it until December but plans can change.

My paid AVG AS 7.5 has not updated since the 27th. I suspect this is just a temporary thing, but we'll see.

My understanding is that updates for AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5 are still available and will be for another month or so. As I recall, it was promised that users of AVG's version 7.5 commercial products will be able to get updates through to December 2008.

AVG recommends that users of AVG 7.5 products update to the AVG 8.0 equivalent products. And unlike many other security software providers, AVG does not charge for program updates. So there's nothing financial to stop you updating.

And if you are an AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5 user, why wouldn't you want to update to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0. You get better, faster anti-virus protection, plus anti-spyware protection and the LinkScanner safe search protection.

Most of us here have been with avg since ewido times.

I paid until December for updates and support.

I do not want a suite, I have other apps which do those jobs.

The AVG Anti-Spyware is not dead, but we have since a few days problems with the Server so we were not able to release new Updates for the AVG Anti-Spyware, but we hope that today the server will run so that we can release again new Signatures.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I tried updating but AVGAS couldn't connect to the server. I will attempt it again later today.

I Got my AVG A/s update at approximately 10 am EDT
It did take me 2 attempts though

I'd have to say that it's a bit
slightly overly busy sever issue now

Finally updated on my machines. Yesterday I had to try about 10 times before it would update. Today it took three tries.

Can you even renew the subscription for this or is everything AVG 8.0 now?

I'm pretty sure you can't, since AVG AS is integrated into AVG 8.0. :doubt:

    AVG fan wrote,
Answer... Because AVG 8 will only run on XP SP2 minimum and I have SP1 (legit paid copy), I dont want/like the later releases SP2/3 and without getting into a discussion about Windows security updates eg the pros/cons about Genuine Advantage tool etc, AVG 7.5 has gone and I am now very happy with Rising AV Free, runs very light and no trouble at all on my system.

You cannot renew the subscription - attempting to do so will give you an "upgrade" screen for AVG Anti-Virus 8.0....IMO AVG can very well make a standalone AS product; but like a lot of other vendors; they have chosen not to.
