their paid for software is worst then the free performance wise. It may revert from paid to free without even telling you anything. It remained with gui bugs for a whole month and nobody even cared to fix it

GUI can't be loaded any more, same problem after restart ... Well done, sometimes I think Avast destroyed AVG with all the (useless) changes. :(

Edit: The GUI is really ugly and often confusing, days ago I got a warning that signatures are outdated but it wasn't so. Bye Bye AVG ...

They are in the second phase of unifying codebases and eventually will merge the product lines. I expect a lot of bugs for a year more.

I really liked AVG but it's been going downhill since the Avast acquisition. PC TuneUp actually screwed up a few computers here, and all the regular bugs people have reported on this thread are things I faced too.

Although there's an attractive license (unlimited computers), you cannot use it as an "it just works" product anymore. And that's just sad.

Firecat, I can not recall a single discussion about any AV that you and I haven't agreed 100% on. You summarized the demise of AVG perfectly and sadly.

Before being made unusable by Avast, AVG was inexpensive, light-weight, 100% reliable, simple enough for a novice but with enough bells and whistles for us, you could install & forget, and it was a pleasure to use.
Now it is bloated, incredibly slow to start after boot, cumbersome, has a simply awful GUI, and it is cheap. I'm done with it for good this time I think; I am NOT running it on any systems currently.

Uninstalled bloated and ugly AVG on several computer as well, I think it's time to abandon AVG and make Avast great again. A special offer Avast Internet Security for AVG customer would be nice. ;)
