If the license for 7.5 is valid for 8.0. I wonder if the "Upgrade" would come via a program update automatically, or if like McAfee, you will receive a E-Mail notification first?

Perhaps there will be a notification from the program itself? I *think* there was from 7.0 to 7.5.

So it's now official on their website. I'm downloading a free 30-day trial of IS 8. Build no. is 8.0.81 (the last RC I tried was 8.0.62 and I really liked it).

Av is now combined with Anti Spyware in the new AVG Pro. Just installed and giving it a good try. Looking great....so far. Still a bit slow because of the Webshield, but is only normal.

Hi JasSolo,I noticed that my trial key started with 75,I don't know if this has anything to do with the version seeing it was 7.5!Perhaps this is what's going on.

    Hi rookieman.

I don't think that's the issue. This is what it says on their site :
Upgrade to AVG 8.0 using your existing AVG 7.x license number

Upgrading made easy. Insert your current 7.x product line license number and get a new license number for AVG 8.0. We will offer an AVG 8.0 product download after your license has been upgraded.

...and that's exactly what I did.

    Cheers

Removed the new Pro version again.......slowing down my system drastically and therefore: No Good! Really like the program, but this slowdown is no good for me. Back to Avg Free 7.5

I downloaded the trial but didn't have time to install it before leaving for work , have to wait till later tonight ;-) always something but I hope it runs like the beta as that didn't seem to have any speed or load on the system issues...

This worked for and thanks, but did you do a complete uninstall before installing the new version?

That would be great........just wait for it to be available. I just wonder how many people are experiencing a slowdown with the new AV Pro 8.0.

I couldn't update AVG with the Linkscanner active, so when I disabled it I could update AVG as normal. And the websurfing was slow with the linkscanner active. I didn't like it at all. So I will keep it disabled. But still I can't log in to Live Messenger. Why is that?

Anyways, exept from that, it's working great. Not heavy on the system, and a nice GUI. I'll test it for a few days to see if I'm going to keep it.

What about changing the topic title to "AVG 8 released"?

And the scanning is fast! I took at full computer scan and it finished after 13 minutes. 50 GB is used on my HD.
