I was having performance issues with AVG Internet Security 8.0 on my Windows Vista Business edition based system.

The AVG support FAQs (see http://www.grisoft.com/ww.support) suggested installing a MS update for Vista KB929547 (see http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/...74-12c1-46b3-8af6-159afee195b9&displaylang=en).

Since installing the update my system is running just fine. LinkScanner is now fast. A complete system scan runs in half the time and I can work away on other things without the system scan effecting me.

Funny, that it works on some computers, it didn't help me at all.

Is it a possibility that something in your startup is conflicting with the program?

I have checked all that and even re-installed Vista and had nothing weird running, before installing Avg. The first hour everything seems ok and than it starts slowing down. It seems, that after visiting some websites.....something gets filtered or what. Yesterday even Hotmail didn't open at all. Webshield got disabled automatically and after a re-install of Avg8Webshield was ok again, but Hotmail just would hardly open. On another computer everything just fine! But with Webshield inactive, browsing was a lot better, but still Hotmail wouldn't move!
I sent logs to support and I'm waiting for some solution. In the meantime, I removed Avg, as I couldn't use my computer properly. I never had any trouble at all with Avg Pro 7.5 and was eager to get 8 started, but.......there's something not right. The first thing I get as a comment: Is your system ok, nothing funny running etc. But no, nothing special running and have no trouble at all with Avg free, Avg Pro 7.5, Dr. Web, so.......you tell me, I don't know.

I haven't got to use the new suite yet.I'm still trialing 7.5 of the suite.By the way this was only a suggestion and i've seen that type of problem before that's all.I'll give the new version a go later because i'll be installing it on a new Dell with Vista Home Premium and see what happens.Do you mind me asking are you using a Dell?If so perhaps this could delay me from giving the new version a go.I hope you get this bug ironed out!

How's AVG 8.0 running on anyone's PC that only has 512MB of RAM? I tried it with only the Firewall, AV, AS, and Anti-RootKit installed, but I thought Firefox opened slower than usual, and it seemed like there was slight slowdown with my PC. I'm going to install more RAM in about a week so maybe that would help, but again is the slowdowns I mentioned noticed by anyone else with a Pentium 4, 2.40GHZ, 512MB RAM PC?

Wordward - what OS do you use? This is probably the most important aspect. If you use Vista, please be sure to download the hotfix from Microsoft mentioned above, that bug in Vista has a huge impact on performance of some systems. For XP SP2, it should be OK, though 1GB RAM is definitely better - but not only because of AVG ;)

kodl. I'm on Windows XP. I think everything is normal except for FF opening a little slower. If I have Web Shield or Link Scanner installed though. Then web browsing seems slower.
