It is because when it did an update it showed the components that it updated which is basically the same ones for sp1 for the pro version. I have both the pro and the free on different computers and I beta tested sp1.

btw after running a scan from the free version it does not show anymore the warnings for the active x compatibility programs the prior version had.

    Hi Robin :)

    I'm a bit confused!

    I have AVG 8 Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware - Paid

    The other week...
AVG 8 updated me to 8.0.130

    Then a few days later...
AVG 8 updated me to 8.0.131

You say - 8.0.135 is available for AVG 8 - Free

    But I'm still at - 8.0.131 :doubt:

    As I have the paid version of AVG 8 .... Shouldn't I already be on - 8.0.135 ? :doubt:

    To make matters worse!
    And even more confusing :(
People are starting to report problems with this latest update to - 8.0.135

AVG 8.0 Free and 8.0 paid do not have the same updates. The latest version for AVG 8.0 paid versions remains at 8.0.131, so you do not need to worry.

    Any Difference in the SP1?
    Performance? Memory Usage?

SP1 has generally better performance and less memory usage....

On Saturday, 5th July 2008, AVG Technologies released an update to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0 to address the LinkScanner issue amongst other things.

The file name you want to use is:
    avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332.exe (or later)

If you don’t want to wait for the update process to roll-out to your PC, or you’re doing a new installation, then the up-to-date version is now available for you to download at www.avgfree.com.au
