i ununstalled avast IS and installed AVG free and Outpost internet Security ( Antivirus excluded) and is all good up to now. My laptop feels lighter definitely

 

I think it's great. Lightweight, great protection.

 

I have the chance to buy AVG IS at a discount price(buying it as a bundle), right now i have NIS, and its almost time to renew it, should i renew NIS or buy AVG, do i get same kind of protection level with AVG?

 

I just tried to install AVG 2012 on one of my computers and it said I had to uninstall Online Armor (my version does not have av). WTF?

I think I'll stick to Panda for now.

 

if i install everything but the AVG Search Shield and not the toolbar will AVG still use the AVG Surf Shield to catch drive by downloads and exploits?

AVG 2012:

Pros
good detection(not the best among freebies)
nearly light on resoursces(comparing to the heavy weights)
good features(it lacks features compared to avast)
Cons
some hang-ups seen while runing
updatin is not that good
delayed start up
Summary
I had been using the program and I was happy(not thoruoghly)
then,they banned users from my country(Iran) and it could not get updates
In my opinion,banning people of some country becuause of Governmental policy is not humane(ridiculous idea from an average company)
I simply uninstalled it and run the Security Essential 4 beta and then I found how light and perfect a simple security program can be

Link Scanner: Fixed data corruption when connecting to https servers through proxy.
Link Scanner: Fixed possible corruption of deflate encoded data.
Setup: Update does not request computer restart if Safe Search only is installed.
Toolbar: New version of toolbar implemented.
Update: Deleted shortcuts are not recreated during update.

 

AVG is a good product and offers very good protection, but IMO, don't buy it at this time, there are some confusions regarding support, so I'd suggest waiting till those are sorted out.
