At the moment I run Kaspersky as AV. Is there any sence to change the Kaspersky with Avast and what are the positive or begativ properties.

You would be going from excellent detection to fair detection rates by going from Kav to avast. kav is probably about the best av on the market and a free av is not going to protect you like Kav will. but in the end it is your choice how much protection you want.

And of course, it all relates to your computer use. If you practice safe hex, an avast class scanner is perfectly feasable. If you don´t, get a KAV class scanner.

Although i've never uesd either of these AV's, judging by threads here and AV test results in the past, Kaspersky is far superior to Avast!

As bigc said, arguably the best AV on the market. ;) :D

Stick with KAV zoriv, better to be safe than sorry....

Of course that KAV is better than avast! in detection, but on my system avast! is much more stable...

Check out this site for a good comparison of various anti-virus software:

    http://www.av-comparatives.org/

I'm in the opposite situation as you - I currently use Avast but am probably going to purchase Kaspersky in the near future. I like Avast - for a free program, I think it's great. They have frequent updates, it's never crashed my computer, and it's blocked a lot of viruses for me, but it just doesn't detect everything. Depending on what sites you and your roommates or relatives download from, Avast may be sufficient, especially if you combine it with a firewall and an anti-trojan program.

The website I listed above, as well as https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=79177 explain why I plan to purchase Kaspersky over any other anti-virus program.

If you have any specific questions about Avast, let me know.

I used KAV briefly to see if my two years of running Avast has left something undetected, as I expected, KAV found nothing so I guess Avast as done a wonderful job without being obtrusive and it is free to boot.

Don't think Avast protects you as much as KAV in reguards to riskware. Something about KAV that is excellent is the ability to add the extendend database for riskware and also the advanced database for even further protection from hack tools. Avast isn't that good of detecting viruses as KAV and I have learned that the hard way before when I used Avast. Better stick to KAV to be on the safe side even though it might be a bit more heavy on resources, but it does the job well. What else can you ask for than having 99% + detection rate. Like the other posters above state, if you are safe in what you do, then the free version Avast might be a descent choice, but its never known what you may catch on the net these days.

I was with Avast almost from the start, but recently purchased Kapersky Personal AV plus firewall. I have to say I took advice here when I had problems with my PC and quickly realised I should have the best AV.

I am only a very inexperienced internet user ( as many here can confirm) but I am very pleased with Kapersky. The support is great and the Kapersky Labs forum is one of the best I have ever visited.

People there know what they are talking about and are unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful and patient.

Get Kapersky and you will have a great AV and what is more, peace of mind.
