Have you checked the BehaviorShield.txt file, firzen771?
There shouldn't be that much reported since you installed 5.1.864... it should be easy to see what all the shield has allowed.

    (Edit: version # correction)

Is the Behaviour Shield functional for x64 systems now?

It's functional- but at the moment all it does is passively report what it finds. They are collecting data on it prior to enabling the full functionality in Q1 2011.

not exactly, its passive if u leave it in default mode which is allow, u can have it be active if u switch it to ask, its on allow as the default for now until v6 for the same reason u mentioned tho

Don't forget the scan during install. :)

And this, after closing the GUI during a on demand scan (lower right corner) :)

I noticed that Avast Internet Security and Sandboxie doesn't play nice. I have tried running Firefox sandboxed and it just stalls. It won't load up properly and I have to use the terminate the programs option. Opera browser on the other hand seems to work fine with Sandboxie and Avast.

Does the virtualization mode act like Sandboxie? I haven't seen any tests or a lot of comments about it.

Regardless of version number, the one installer does both 32 & 64 bit.

After a day and a half of pretty heavy use (on two machines) since upgrading to 5.1.864, I have encountered a grand total of about 6 Behavior Shield pop ups, mostly asking if I wanted to trust things like OA and CCleaner and some Microsoft stuff. I view these as very standard initial inquiries from a behavior analyzer, and I'm not frightened/insulted in the least. ;)

Updated Avast to v5.1.864 this morning. Thanks for all the posts here. Ability to alter pop-up durations will be ice for me.

Contrary to some others here, the Behavioral Shield component is so freaking silent for me. I've not seen any pop-ups even in "ask" mode. I've checked the BehaviorShield.txt file and nothing there.

I can only think of 4 possible reasons right now:

    1. The white-listing in the Avast community is working.
    2. My PC is freaking clean.
    3. The behavioral heuristics is not too 'aggressive'.
    4. Something is wrong here on my PC.

Since I'm pretty sure the last one isn't possible, it means Avast is doing a good job imo.:thumb: I'm using the free home version.

Seems to drag the system more than the previous version though i did not installed the behaviour module. And it seems to have a compatibility issue with Sandboxie ,on some W7 system Sandboxie wouldnt install properly with this Avast version.
Anyway it s ok even in this state.

What does the Behaviour shield activity graph in the GUI show compared to before you updated to 5.1? On a w7 64 bit machine of a relative of mine, with 5.0 there were about 20 scanned actions around every time the computer booted and some incidentally scanned actions when it was running(also not much installing, just used for browsing/mailing.) After it updated to 5.1 through the built-in updater it scanned only one item after booting again and the second boot even none. Then I uninstalled and installed 5.1 directly this time and the activity was back to normal.

I sincerely hope that the Behavior Shield, when it becomes fully operative, won't turn out to be some sort of HIPS... I'm pretty sure I would had to disable it in my relatives systems. :D
