Avast 7 seemed reasonable to me in terms of CPU and Disk I/O. Do you feel it needed improvement?

I do not find it as light as some programs, but it is solid.

I'll have to switch back to Avast 7 for a while or BD Free because I'm having far too many issues. The connection for updates refuses to stay established and I haven't received any updates since yesterday afternoon. That plus disabling shields still results in a disabled internet after enabling them again unless I reboot. Hopefully this is remedied in the last Beta before Final, which is what, about 2 weeks or so away?

I tried the 2nd beta for about 20 min, and I had to uninstall it, It BSOD my laptop (first time that has ever happened to this comp) and for about the first 10 min after boot the computer was completely unusable because CPU/RAM usage was 99.9% I do however love the improvements they have made (seen through videos) and cant wait to test a RC and the final version.

Check my sig. I'm running Comodo firewall 6 with no issues, However I have read something about a conflict between CFW and Avast! web shield. I havent seen any issues yet though.

Im running the full comodo suite and i may just stick with it as its the lightest set up ive tried.
As far as im aware the web shield issue still exists unfortunately.

"Was this the web shield problem?
Just wonder because it says for browser"

egemen, a Comodo employee replied with this...

    "Yes. Web shield problem."

I'm currently running this setup as well, and it appears to be fixed...No problems on my end either.

Too late, Comodo - I returned to Privatefirewall and my system is way faster than it was with comodo.

I think this test is faulty. At least twice the sandbox marked files safe to execute, and rather than run them, the tester just close them. I wonder if the computer would have been infected by those two files.

    Exactly my thoughts ;)
    Not thorough testing at all.
I tend not to watch this kid's videos anyway, pasting supposed malicious urls into IE is hardly a rigorous workout.
Hopefully more testers will put it through more in future reviews.

He used quite a lot adware and FP from malc0de's honeypot. So I said him to check his URL before testing ...

Upon perusing through the comodo forum it would appear that issue has not been fixed although thats not the reason ive stopped using it.
It has come to light that the av and firewall functions do not work properly within the virtual environment and this has put me off for now until that issue has been fixed.

This includes the changes from beta2 and beta3, it would be more clear if they just posted the changes in beta3 compared to beta2. I've taken out the list of changes from beta2 compared to beta1 so this is the changelog for beta3 compared to beta2:
    - Problems with upgrading v7 to v8 on Win8 related to the network
    - BSODs & Webshield crashes fixed
    - Problems with Security Center fixed
    - Ad Blocker has now final facelift
    - After facebook registration setup might crash so reboot is required to start avast! service
    - During softrial gui is not correctly updated
    - Trial period could not be activated (update from v7 to v8 )
    - Missing pre-defined scan jobs (update from v7 to v8 )

Thanks. I was confused, as I thought it was already supposed to be Win8 compatible after the last build.

You are wrong in a way...I have some dumb clients running avast and honestly they like to click the close button because they see something like use with caution they know it can harm their system :D

this is the issue with most of the testers on YT...they seriously dont understand what is meant by use with caution in terms of a dumb user!? C'mon we arent talking here about techy users like you and me.

BTW both the files in the sandbox is now blocked by avast web and network shield!

I can't wait for the final release either.

I know what you mean, I do the same thing.
