You can use integrated updater or install it from scratch.
    Enjoy!

I purchased Avast 6 is a week ago and immediately began experiencing BSOD's with youtube and other videos. I'm running XP pro sp3 with all updates.

Haven't been upgraded to avast 7 yet. I wonder if the blue screen problem is fixed. I did a search about it and found out that it seems to be a problem going back quite a while. It only happens with video type things.

I'll grab the update/upgrade for the release candidate regardless and hope for the best. I know the problem has been mentioned on the Avast forum.

I like AVAST and, if it's still a problem, I'll listen to music on Youtube with my laptop.

I'm not sure how exactly you connected avast! with BSOD's and Youtube. What did BSOD's say? Because what i'd say is a conflict between Youtube videos, graphics drivers and hardware acceleration of videos through Adobe Flash...

I never had a problem before installing avast 6 IS last week. The BSOD's began immediately. Something about irq something or other. The minidump showed 64 KB each time. I uninstalled Avast 6, completely removed all traces, and no BSOD. Reinstalled and the began again.

Oddly, the first BSOD happened while watching Languy99 do a review of avast 7 beta on youtube. Good review for avast too.

Then, I began googling for similar problems and found quite a few instances of avast and BSOD's involving Youtube, windows media player and similar. No real solutions though. Some concerned google chrome, others firefox and even MSIE.

All that said, I'm keeping AVAST. If I want to listen to music, I'll use my laptop.

    No, it's the final version.

How good is their sandbox compared to the like of sandboxie etc.

Better imo. Free version doesn't offer On-Demand sandboxing, it only has Auto Sandbox, but with FileRep, you'll see it more often on files with suspicious characteristics or bad rating.

Still, why is it better? Sandboxie, even though allows on-demand sandboxing, it doesn't provide any kind of file analysis. avast! does however so if something is suspicious, it will auto sandbox it. And then it continues to observe the sandboxed program if it's doing anything bad and then avast! tells that to the user. So you can make a good decision easier.

In the following days, updates will be spread unevenly to distribute the update servers load better. You can inwoke the updater yourself if you want to update it right away.

Just auto update it yourself from the program. I did earlier today. Worked flawlessly.

I don't get it why moderators censored direct EXE links that point to OFFICIAL avast! servers. It's not like we posted malware links... Sometimes Wilders policies make no sense at all.

They are not censored, as that implies they would have been removed. These links were not removed. We de-link all direct downloads so that people aren't surprised when being click happy, suddenly seeing an EXE download dialog box pop up, then complaining to us that we tried to hack them by auto-running an EXE on their system. We get complaints like that all the time, so, we de-link all direct downloads and certain types of other links. But, the links are still available to those that want to access them.

And users wondering why links don't work aren't any weirder than EXE downloads magically appearing because they clicked on them? C'mon?

Hey, it happens here, along with a lot of other strange things. That's why we have the policy. It's certainly not because we want to waste our time having to edit links everyday. :doubt:
