And it'll happen again eventually, to Avast and to others. Humans screw up, that won't ever end. In the meantime, enjoy what is probably the most full-featured free AV out there right now.

I think many conflicts with avast have been fixed in the latest build so there might be no problems to keep all the shields on.

BTW avast and DW is good combination:thumb:

Agree, use Avast's (default on) caching, de-select the check on open files (leaves writes and on-execute check enabled in file shield). New Avast is really first AV wihich I use in combo with DW, which has on-execute check enabled (simply because the caching is so good, it does not hurt I/O load).

    Regards Kees

The web shield is messing with my browser again, can't get anything to load with it turned on.
Anyone know when the next refresh will be?

I'm not experiencing that issue here. I'm running Firefox and IE8.

You might see something brewing in the behavior shield section with the latest build.

ye but that time is used to make a beta so stable that ive never experienced before. the time taken is a good step IMO, its gunna make an amazingly stable end product and it already is quite stable.

Yeah I know of a lot of people who are already recommending it. This version is probably the most stable beta I have ever tested.

I totally agree with these sentiments. :thumb: I'm tired of products going final when there are obviously well known bugs still present.

I believe it has a Bayesian filter and of course you can also build a whitelist/blacklist. But im not positive so I posted your question on the forum. Ill post an answer as soon as I get one.

On the flip side of that, if a vendor keeps a product in Beta too long, user interest wanes. Obviously if the bugs are serious enough (BSODs, excessive slowdowns, that sort of thing), then yes, it's in the best interest of everybody involved to keep it in the lab a little longer. But, eventually you have to let your users get their grubby little paws on it and tweak it as you go along based on user feedback.

I don't recall the last time I dealt with a Beta product that was as polished and effective as this Avast Beta has been. I want them to be comfortable enough with it before they deem it a final, but I REALLY want them to finish it up a.s.a.p.

this is in my opinion simply one company trying to make a program that does it all , I like sutes but this program is just going for too much, keep it simple...
