    Hi
Have you ( the wilders test team) ever considered testing the new Avast 4.
There have not been that much talk about it here, but the things ive read have been mostly positive.
Can it compete with the big boys on the market??
    Regards
    Ole :)

We do have licensed versions from the Pro version stashed if I'm not mistaken - it's on our "to do" list.

Can't comment on that one yet ;)

    Regards.

I won't - one of us will. Then again: it's a heck of a job, and we all are volunteers, having jobs and family. Test/review requests are coming in very often - thus, it'll take some time. Hope you don't mind ;).

    regards.

    And, have you?

I tried it and like it. It's running on my main machine as the only AV scanner. What I like most is the signature update facility. You don't notice it :D

    Hi Meneer.
Yes, trying it just now. :D
Runs very nice on this box.
A trough scan takes ages , but i suppose its checking everything.
    Nice free product.
Had one vbt. award recently, i can understand.
If i had to use a free AV , i certainly would chose AVAST over AGV.
    Regards
    Ole

I've been using avast! v4 Home on my Win98SE machine since about February. I had a minor problem with the resident scanner continually showing as disabled when it wasn't (because it actually stopped a couple of viruses) but everything is running smooth now. Other than that one problem its been an excellent program. I highly recommend it.

I can also sing it's praises. Very smooth program, lovely and tidy integrating into a system. Install and forget :D with auto update.

P.s. Im Redhat from GSL, i just can't remember my old login

Does any one know how to set Avast free to scan non-Outlook mail?
The help file gives directions, but either it's not clear, or I'm pretty dense. I think it's the second one.

Seems like a very nice free av.

    Regards,
    Douglas

Douglas, I recommend your attention the avast support forum at www.avast.com/forum . Do a forum search and hopefully you'll find the answers you're looking for. If not, you can make a new post with all your questions. We'll be happy to help you. ;)
