More updates are slowly making it to the product... give us little bit more time, please. Hey, a few weeks ago, you didn't even know there would be something like Avast 2014... :)

    Cheers

Tentatively. We're in the process of replacing the whole Web and Network Shield stack with an all new version, and it really depends on how the testing of this goes...

    Cheers

I thought beta meant feature-complete, oh well. Hopefully it fixes my issues with the first stack.

Does this mean you'll be getting rid of the traditional transparent proxy? Can we expect any performance improvements (i know some wer complaining over performance of Web Shield). Looking forward for BETA2. BETA1 works really well for me so there is no real rush as far as i'm concerned. :)

This is a very nice program. I'm surprised by such little fanfare it is getting recently. Guess the it's no longer the flavor of the month.

I switched to Avast 3 days ago after BD Free brought my computer to a complete crawl after one of their updates. I gotta say I don't regret switching. Very light on resources and I like all of the shields.

Is anyone using Comodo Firewall with Avast 8? How well do they work together?

Running Avast Free 2014 Beta 2 at present and am quite pleased. Web Protection, frequent updates, file protection, light on resources, great reputation...what more could you want in an antivirus?

I can feel a slight slow down of my system but nothing too severe. And it's compatible with Win 8.1 (looming like a big blue monster on the horizon...;)) to be made available next month.

    Later...

Uninstalled beta 1, installed beta 2.

Since only 4 days remaining of free license I tried to input my activation code for AV Pro 8. Code was invalid.

Yet the same activation code was good to go for the first beta.

    Any ideas?

Try turning Avast off while you re-install the firewall.

Why no option to remove registration altogether? Most free AVs have no registration, and I prefer that. I don't see any reason for it, and it's pointless as there is no email verification or anything.
