But BitDefender went from Advanced+ back to just Advanced :doubt: . They must not like February for some reason.

Yes, they are sister companies and use the same engine. Glad that my favorite free av is stepping up the pace :D . Trustport is a new one, and a pleasant surprise. The Norman and Bitdefender engine combination will lead to very interesting results in the pro-active comparitives. Can't wait!

I does not appear that way. I see that they are ADVANCED. Not sure what that means, but will be interested to see the results.

Trustport listed on the av-comparatives forum looks interesting (Norman + bitdefender)... Anyone try it?

BTW thanks IBK for taking the time to make such tests in the first place.

    IBK,

Are you willing to share who the original 25 invitees were?

As interesting as the results already are, I'm curious to see who wasn't interested in taking part (and, although I guess you can't tell us why, why they didn't take part).

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

No i dont think that bitdefender went to advanced, i mean they all say that bitdefender has improved the hive so much and they add alot of signatures.
If it is true that they got advanced then i dont know if i belive in that av-comparatives test that only one person made it.
But i think Norton got advanced+

Yes, and it has got an Advanced+ rating this time, and I knew it was coming....Thankfully, my intuition still does not fail me. :)

    Re: Tests of 2006

Command Systems, CA and ArcaBit didn't make it. QuickHeal probably did very poorly in the tests and was not included. Extendia AVK Professional also didn't make it (IBK probably never even recieved a reply from eXtendia about testing on AV-Comp.). Others also didn't make it (see list below)

No idea why TrendMicro didn't make it.....

Total list of all who were invited but didn't make it to this test:

    Trend Micro (PC-cillin)
    Authentium/Command
    ArcaBit
    Computer Associates (eTrust)
    VirusBuster
    IKARUS
    UNA
    Boomerang Software (eXtendia AntiVirus Professional)

VBA32 should be included from the next test onwards.

Why do I have the feeling some people have the results already, while I am still waiting ? :shifty:

They did. Just read the overview.

They have just read the overview with the global ratings

You are free to do the same on the av-comparative website.

edit : I'm really impressed by the ratings of the free products on this test. Except AVG...but hey it's not a surprise :D

Too bad Trend-Micro didn't participate. I'll ask them about it. Please don't speculate about results here. Just give IBK his time, the results will be there soon enough.

Well i think i belive them other users, they maybe have seen the test before, but its hard for me to understand that bitdefender got advanced only and they have improved the hive on version 9, and version 8 got advanced+ but not version 9, something must be wrong.
But good to know that antivir+arcavir = together.

for clarification: what Firecat says is wrong. It is just his opinion. No one eccept some few AV peoples received/saw so far the results.

Interesting that TrustPort got Advanced+ ....
so Norman (Standard) + BitDefender (Advanced) = Advanced+
