I'm sure you can donate to GFI to get Vipre tested :p

And Yes I agree it would be interesting if they could be tested by AV-C!

This is interesting to say the least. Still scratching my head as to why they didn't participate.

It is flagging a number of files as OpenCandy adware.

I guess this test is useful for simulating detection of "zero-day" malware without signatures.

The OpenCandy detection is not FP, it used to be actually adware. After changing their policy, they are no longer detected. For more info, read here.

    Re: and avast?

Avast like other vendors, didn't want to participate in this comparative.
Great result for G-Data, ESET, Avira and Kaspersky... But surprised for TrustPort, F-Secure and BitDefender...

    Hi Marcos,

I guess you wanted to point to the other current OpenCandy thread at the Eset forum:

In particular reply # 9 by danieln

So will this detection on these softwares be removed or will be removed in future product updates of those softwares?

    ichito,

As far as I know you are NOT allowed to quote in that way from AV-Comparatives.

I don't think it is because it doesn't allow the use of an Internet connection for cloud detection behaviours. While that might be useful as a sidebar, as the main test I really don't think it represents a particularly common scenario where your on-access scanner is seeing a file for the first time AND you're offline.

I'm very surprised too,as a company they've never been afraid to be tested for better or worse. There must be a specific reason why they chose not to be a part of this particular testing round, perhaps an explanation will be forthcoming .

For me MSE poor detection rates don't matter much.. since i have not been infected by any malware since using MSE and sandboxie on my notebook.I have other on demand tools for detection, if missed by MSE.These tools like malwarebytes,Hitman Pro etc. have not found anything MSE missed so far and i do surf the dark side. These tests results are fun to look at...that's all.
