My guess is more simple. AVG has already improved their engine to 7.5, there is no need to show poor results with the obsolete 7.1 engine anymore. So Grisoft has voluntarily withdrawn the test because of this.

    Best regards,

i thought 7.5 was being tested, maybe its 'grey' because of alot of FP's.

avg never had many FP's, but now ewido has entered aswell, and that software was known for good detection, but alot of FP's.

thats what i think, shall see in the report maybe?

i mainly always just check the detection rates of on-demand tests, but those tests are too far inbetween.

or maybe IBK will say something on the matter.

They were always the same engines that they used in former On-Demand tests 08-2006. That's the point in retrospective tests. Old engines and signatures but malwares up to 3 months AFTER that.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

    You don't see NOD32 v.2.7 or F-Prot v.4 beta yet. Sorry!

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

We will actually have to wait another 6 months till we can see how AVG 7.5, F-PROT 4 and NOD32 2.7 perform.

When KAV don't release their heuristic before Feb/2007, it will be 1 year till we can see it being included into the test (Nov 2007).

    My guess:
The malware is becoming harder-to-detect using 3 months old heuristics :'( , so all antivirus get worse results except the ones that improved their heuristics before the August test  (e.g. Antivir AHeAD)
    or
IBK changed the meaning of Advanced to more than 30% and few false positives

If AVG didn't participate in the test it would be black, like RAV and Sophos in November 2005, rather than grey like VBA32 in February and August.

yeah, the on-demand tests of Feb. 07 will include AVG 7.5, F-Prot 4, NOD 32 2.7 and perhaps the new KAV heuristics together with the already great BitDefender and Avira engines
If I can dream, Dr. Web, Avast and VBA32 can join the party with brand-new engines
I think that will be the most interesting test in a long time. I expect lots of Advanced+ and Advanced awards :D

    thanks Trjam for the license.

but my dad is gonna buy kis6.0 because he says he doesn't want to mess around so he prefers suites.
if kis6.0 doesnt go well i can use either nod32 license or the antivir suite license
    lodore

What this also shows though is, there is still work to do if any of these want to be the lone product of choice.

Kudos to Avira and NOD32! NOD32 continues it's excellence and Avira continues to improve rapidly. Both also had the fastest scanning speeds.

AVG's result was shocking though! Old engine or not that's really poor.
