well good job to Avast and GDATA did good as expected, but i wish they used the same version scheme as the vendor does so there isnt confusion (like use yearly version format for products that go by years and use version format for ones that go by versions) cuz im unsure what version F-Secure, BitDefender, Norton and GDATA are, if anyone culd let me know thx

Another False Positive test was run. GData dramatically reduced their FPs from 44 to only 9.

    Hi !

F-Secure seems to be back in business: earning an Advanced+-Award without extensive heuristics!

    Well done :thumb:

    Best regards,

did they use the newest version of F-Secure, the 2010 one? and wow without suspicious file detection and deep heur F-Secure did amazingly well.

They checked the 2010 version and deep heuristic and Suspicious detections were not used. Awsome stuff by F-Secure!

Just to update a graph previously shown in AV Comparatives Detection Statistics - A Crude Meta-analysis:

    AVComp stat distribution Sept 2009.png

The numerical inferences have not changed to within the precision of the analysis, nor were changes expected due to the size of the data set.

The take home message - use the certification levels as the first pass differentiation between products, but even at that level there is room to argue whether some of the differences cited are persistent and real.

    Re: AV Comparatives

I guess we need to wait for next year for the new versions 2010/MSE/etc to be tested :(

Scanning speed test looks promising though. Slightly concerned over the high amount of vendors getting high FP's.

    MSE scores like OneCare.
The 2010 versions are already included.
    Future versions in the future.

2010 if available. its all in the report. page 3 for normal-user-understandable version numbers, page 4 for build numbers. beside that, on the main site you can see the version numbers too.

The August test is part of a test series; due that you will usually see the same products tested over the year. New entries for the public main tests can apply for 2010 if they want and qualify to.

Yeah, that sucks though...No MSE and no Vipre tested. Would sure like to see those two in there.

Page 3 gives you that info; the next page lists version numbers.

Interesting, but as far as I know, OneCare had nothing to do with SpyNet, and in different tests, they used live internet connections for MSE.

good job f-secure, excellent results for default setting and low false positives, ESET dropped a bit & surprised by Kaspersky...

lol no idea how i missed that, thx.

kaspersky slowly but surely seems to be going down wen it comes to detection and it seems they are trying to compensate for lower detection with other modules in their AV.

Kaspersky's score of Advanced is still excellent. I wouldn't write them off. Also consider they scored Advanced+ for the two previous tests.
