    Hi there,

I got ESET Smart Security, but to my surprise, when I plug my external USB flash disk, no scanning takes place, no viruses are detected automatically. I will have to scan the external drive manually in order to check for viruses and worms!

Zonealarm and Kaspersky used to inform me automatically for a virus detection in case the external USB flash disk had a virus..

How can I enable this feature?

The simplest thing you can do is disable the autorun feature. Also you can enable advanced heuristics and runtime packers on file access in the real-time protection setup, but this may result in a performance slowdown as all files would be emulated before they are run. For this reason, the next major program update will have scanning of removable media improved.

Any update with the newer version of ESET Smart Security concerning auto detection of malware in USB disks?

It will certainly be announced long enough before it's released.
