A few times my desktop seems to start playing an audio recording which is an ad of some type. It did it 2-3 times already.

This morning, the same thing happened on my laptop.

Has anyone heard of this beforeo_O??

I ran Spybot and Adaware which found nothing.

A full anti-virus scan showed nothing either.

    Am I going nutso_O

    Forgot to mention.....

The audio starts by itself. No player of any kind is running.

Peculiaro_O? Since it started in a second computer, it makes me wonder if this is some new kind of "annoying-ware".

Do you have any instant messenger or chat type software running? There are reports of some audio based ads coming through those products, even when people have various ad suppression settings / software configured.

    low,

Yes, I usually have AIM running on both of the computers I use.

Can I do anything to prevent this nonsense?

    Thanks for the reply

    low,

Thank you for the link. It definetley is coming from AOL.
I will try to enter all the server addresses into my blocker, and search my computer for the elf files and delete them.

I will also raise a strong protest with AOL.

    Take Care,
    techie
