Played with this a little bit this morning with a quick comparison with Macrium REFLECT. Format of images is a compressed VMDK, a VMware format. Problem is, if you want to bring up your image in VMware... it doesn't support compressed VMDKs. Some other apps do but not VMware. If you want to play with your images in VMware, you'll need to convert the compressed VMDK into a non-compressed VMDK... ? File compression size basically same as REFLECT... FULL image and verification time more than double with Ashampoo. Decided not to do a restore as it would be a standard FULL restore rather than any type of DELTA or differential restore. I guess it works just fine as a basic imaging and/or file backup tool. Was looking to see if it did anything really interesting in the imaging arena.
